Nom 1600(mentioned because the old nom was 1477 and made many nondescript brands) Hoping the new nom (which only makes this one product) is a step up. Nice golden color with some legs upon swirling. I let this open for 15 minutes. The aroma is caramel with alcohol back upon a deeper inhale. I didn’t catch agave. The flavor was a caramel and vanilla combo. A bit of licorice on later sips. The finish was more of the caramel/vanilla with a hint of alcohol (not an alarming amount but it is present.) The finish lingers and is sweeter than I prefer. (The legs are still present at this point) I’ll probably use this as a nicer mixer or for friends who go for sweet but not overly sweet .

Don Elias tasting at monterey tequila fest I was skeptical when I tried this brand. it wasnt as bad as i expected. Made in arenal. only one brand made at this distillery I like the blanco and anejo better than the repo. Repo is a sweet. XA is SUPER SWEET NOT GOOD this is probably not for aficionados but could be an easy sipper for newbies
