t’s kind of odd for Lunazul, a value-focused brand, to release a fairly low cost anejo claro when most of the entries in this space are in the +$75 high end space.
The aroma opens with a muted mix of earthiness and citrus-tinged florals, quickly joined by a dry, papery note that reads as cardboard. It feels fresh but restrained and slightly jejune. On the palate, citrus and earth take the lead, the latter leaning toward a starchy, potato-like character. Pepper adds a subtle prickle, while the expected cooked agave remains elusive, replaced instead by a vague, earthy sweetness that lacks definition. The profile feels more textural than flavorful, with familiar elements present but not fully articulated. The finish is clean and relatively short, marked by a brief flash of citrus freshness before fading quietly, leaving behind a dry, uneventful impression.
