Another local store's barrel pick. Again, expected blandness, but exceeded expectations. Nice solid repo for about 35 bucks.
Single Barrel Pick Woodman's. Nice barrel influence on the nose. Easy to drink. Oak on the pallet. Agave is a bit lost.
Meh. A bit overpriced for what’s in the bottle. I get more barrel than agave.
I prefer this one over añejo and blanco. Easy aroma of honey , oak and orange that also translates to body and finish. Price makes it a good deal!
Great off the hop but all the agave disappears pretty quick, good finish(nutty) with a nice mouth feel.
Some bitter notes on the finish I don't love but overall OK. Oak and barrel spice with baked agave. Tasted again with a cleaner palate and some nice initial sweetness presents but what I said above still applies.
Rated Blind for MTBC 2018 Oak, barrel, baked agave. Initial sweetness but fades into bitter finish.
Served this at a club. Not bad, maybe a good mixer.
2024 Blanton’s Single Barrel Reposado | Aging tequila in a Blanton’s barrel sounds great. The problem here is the underlying tequila. I just don’t like it. It has a pretty unpleasant ethanol flavor I can’t get past.
Corazon whether it be additive free or not will always be great to me.
This tasting notes review is based on four separate tasting sessions over two weeks. For the first and fourth tastings I used a Riedel tequila flute glass and for the second and third tastings I used the smaller Glassique Cadeau tequila copita glass. Both glasses accentuated the tequila’s aromas well, with the Riedel being a tad better. For the neck pour tasting, the aroma profile was on the lighter side with a waft of alcohol along with a sweetness mix of cooked agave with light, sweet baking spices, caramel, vanilla, oak/barrel spice, light white pepper, honey, and a fruity citrus note reminiscent of oranges. After resting in the glass for 15 minutes, on the palate this reposado had a medium buttery/oily/creamy mouthfeel, though not the most buttery, coating the mouth fairly briefly. The sip started with a hit of cooked agave and sweet baking spices followed by light caramel, vanilla, oak/barrel spice, black pepper and alcohol heat, and that citrusy orange peel note (more slightly butter than sweet). At the end of a sip, there was a slight anise-like bitterness mixed with a slight earthiness. The alcohol hit was fairly strong on the neck pour, though it mellowed out on subsequent pours as the tequila continued to open up and aerate. 2nd Tasting – The stronger alcohol aroma had dissipated on the nose, though the aroma profile remained (and remains) on the lighter side. It was defined by cooked agave with sweet baking spices, light vanilla and caramel, and a honeyed citrus (orange). The white pepper from the neck pour had dissipated significantly. There was a hint of oak influence and barrel spice. On the palate, sips were initiated by a cooked agave/sweet baking spices sweetness with a mix of caramel, vanilla, and that honeyed orange citrus. The pepper made itself known after along with some alcohol heat that led to a pleasant, but relatively short, warming sensation in the mouth, throat, and chest. Just before swallowing a sip, the anise-like and oak tannin bitterness hit, but was mild. 3rd & 4th Tastings – I did not notice significant change on the third tasting, but on the fourth tasting did notice, after the reposado had rested for 30 minutes in the Riedel glass, a more prominent caramel aroma mixed with the aforementioned other notes. On the palate, the flavor profile remained the same on the third and fourth tastings as during the first two. Though not the most complex reposado, Corazón de Agave Single Estate Reposado is a very approachable, if low-key, reposado from a good tequila distillery at an excellent budget-friendly price point ($23.99 in my area, pre-tax). It makes for an enjoyable evening sipping tequila.
* Corazon Reposado Weller Barrel Select* This tequila would be the perfect introduction tequila to the bourbon drinkers. The is heavily barrel influenced & the agave was lost in translation. The Aroma is desirable with hints of Carmel, honey, vanilla & cinnamon. On the palate you get mostly bourbon, little to no agave, & the finish is very bold w/ mostly ethanol overriding the flavor profile.
Does not taste like tequila to me. I'm a budget drinker. this fit the profile and the reviews seemed to be in line with my requirements. I purchased this bottle for $28. there are several others in the price range that are much better. I will drink tequila straight, but prefer mixing Palomas to have with a cigar. I think at best this is a "mixto" that has been degraded to almost vodka with some oak from aging. This was very disappointing. I had to put salt in the shaker to bring out any tequila flavor. Better choices in the price range: El Mayor, Gran Centario.
Boubom forward tequila.. I'm not a huge fan of bourbon.. doesn't mix well.. I'm sticking with the blanco :) not bad just not my acquired taste
Agave(cooked) Vegetal Pepper Vanilla Citrus Oak Barrel Alcohol Earthy
Blanton's barrel. Not bad but has a lot, a lot of bourbon flavor and finish. If I was drinking with a bourbon drinker, this would be a good choice, for me drinking what I like...not so much...price was exceptional at $29.00
Store Pick Reposado aged in Blanton's barrels. Very little on the nose, but what is there is mild and pleasant. Not much agave on the nose or palate. No burn, not much spice, very easy to drink and approachable.
Single barrel Reposado Exclusive single estate estate tequila Aged in Buffalo Trace Barrels. ABC selected barrel #235
Great mixer!
Taste the barrel spice, the sweetness from the agave, the orange aroma price wise, a great tequila for the price
Very little nose if any at all. Mild taste, smooth with little complexity. Made for newcomers to the tequila world. Much better out of this distillery for sure.
Corazon Reposado, Single Barrel, Aged in Sazerac Rye Barrels. Overall: A steal at $40, this Sazerac Rye Single Barrel reposado is a delight. Warm and light tones without loosing its agave roots. Extra points for affordability. Aromas: Light vanilla, a splash of honey, red fruit, orange peel, rye herbatiousness, pepper, and a touch of butterscotch. The sugars are faint, which is a welcome perspective given the lot of overly sweet Tequilas out there. This is pleasant and balanced. Taste: Initially, i was disappointed with the thin mouthfeel, but the rye spice builds to a great crescendo. Lght sugar, bitter orange, clove, nutmeg, bold rye, with a trace of oak and cooked agave. While this is not overly remarkable, I find this bottle growing on me. It's been a real pleasure to sip.
Smokey, with a peppery bite.
Nose: good amount of anise, sweet, green apple. Maybe too sweet. Mouth: baked spices, nutmeg, green apple, warmth, not much agave, peppery finish.

Oaky, caramel, barrel spice in a dark amber color but relatively light drinker. Nothing too special but did the trick for a glass out.
