“This is a sleeper of a tequila and most likely overlooked by most. It’s probably because the previous NOM was a flop for those who tried. The New NOM 1551 is a different story and produced the right way. This is higher than 80 proof so it will punch through in a cocktail and you get more flavor if you’re sipping. Nose: sweet cooked agave, mint and hints of vanila bean with some sweet/semi bitter citrus like lime rind. This needs a moment to open up before some of the astringency subsides. It will especially once you get down to about 3/4 of the bottle. Then it really opens up. Palette: closely aligned with how it smells with the addition of earthy pepper, some grassy herbal notes as well or like a raw + rich cooked agave on the finish. Light to medium finish. Overall, you won’t be disappointed if you sip or mix. A good choice on the higher budget options out there.”

“You buy this tequila knowing it’s well made and additive free infusion to be mixed in a margarita/cocktail. For that purpose it’s unique in the market and efficient for those who don’t want to be muddling away and want consistency. I wouldn’t buy any other infused tequila other than Tanteo because they suck and not what I would consider drinkable even in a mixed drink. ”

“If you’re just getting into higher proof tequila this is a great entry point for you. The still strength and anejo expressions are my go-to’s for this brand though you really can’t go wrong with any of them. ”
