Casa Dragones Tequila Blanco
“It might seem strange to rate this one high in my book; however, this is a blanco that greatly develops the more it is introduced to oxygen. As I stretched this bottle out over the course of a year to a year and a half I noticed a much greater floral almost gin note to the palate and mush more citrus and florality on the nose as well. This is a blanco that turns much more complex the lower it gets and the longer it sits on the shelf. ”

The nose and finish on this bring up an easy shot of warm vanilla and banana that holds on the palate without ever tumbling in to something too sweet. The cask finishing is truly what sets this apart and the extra proof holds the flavors well over an extended sit down. ”

Solento Extra Añejo
“This is an exceptionally smooth and warm Añejo; great legs and a balanced amount of viscous, a deep amber colouration. Nose is definitely toasted oak, butterscotch/caramel, and vanilla bean forward for me. Full bodied drink with a long finish of warm rich spice and cinnamon and barely a hint of an alcohol burn; deceptively smooth. I sip this neat, and even friends who I introduce to drinking tequila neat agree that this is a velvety and spiced drink that you have to remember is alcohol. I was hesitant at the price but the box, tequila, two fine glasses, and really cool record are all a net positive in my book! Definitely getting a second set.”
