Too much vanilla and cinnamon for me, 2 Moons or otherwise. Reminds me of Sugar Daddy candy. Reserva del Senor has a similar profile from the same distillery. These are held in somewhat high regard as a dusty, but I wouldn't be seeking this out.

The aroma has scents of cherry, almond and caramel. The taste is pretty much on par with the aroma. It's sweet with caramel being the most prominent flavor. This is one of the better Reposados that I've tasted.

Updated 06/02/2025 (side-by-side blanco, reposado and añejo. All bottles purchased in 2012.) First thing I notice is that reposado and añejo are nearly identical in color. Nice aroma with rich, baking spices and distinct cherry note. This bottle had noticeable loss. Down a full 2 inches from full fill level and it is gone. No real flavor at all. Nothing more to say about this one. I am leaving my original rating (which seems high in retrospect but that was my palate 10-12 years ago). Can’t provide any meaningful update with this bottle.

Vanilla, crème brûlée, oaky nose and flavor. A lot going on for a reposado. Artificial sweeteners? No one knows for sure as this brand has long been discontinued. Some have said yes, some have said no. If it has sweeteners, it’s done subtly. Nowhere near the sugar bombs like Caca Azul and 1942. This was one of the first tequilas I bought when I started my journey some 20 years ago, so admittedly, this is a nostalgic one for me. Recently found 3 bottles for 25 each and jumped on them. Still enjoy it on occasion, though my palette is much more refined these days. Also a pretty good sipper when blended with a nice blanco.

Nose: Oak and alcohol upfront with a red fruit note (apple/cherry), followed by light caramel and vanilla. Palate: Buttercream and cream soda profile leading the way, with vanilla and caramel rounding it out. Clearly some manipulation, but not overdone — still an enjoyable pour. Mouthfeel: Nice viscosity with a smooth texture. Finish: Slight burn, but the caramel and vanilla linger well. Conclusion: A sweeter, approachable reposado with enough body to keep it interesting. Not the most natural flavor profile, but still a pleasant and easy sipper. Sample provided via the Agave Swappers Facebook group.

Touch cream soda fading to a licorice. Nice medium finish with a creamy mouth feel.

Review #221 - Dos Lunas Tequila Reposado

My last entry for the Dos Lunas line. The entire line is a really quality group of tequilas. All very tasty, but all quite different.
