Barrel Aged Tequila Uses the Best of Buffalo Trace’s and Van Winkle Barrels
Bottle: Bottle No. 0173 of 9,690 Bottles, Bottled On 20-10-2014; 201014 10:51, L240714 B GRACIAS Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked and raw agave, anise, almond, minerality, limestone, flowers, citrus, baby oil, green apple, black pepper, brine/salinity, dry earth, and musty…definitely different, a little constrained, but still pleasant Palate: Cooked and raw agave, herbal, mint, eucalyptus, anise, flowers, minerality, limestone, alcohol, citrus, green apple, black pepper, wet cardboard, brine/salinity, almond, and musty…noticeably funky and unique Finish: Raw agave, alcohol, mint, and wet cardboard…medium length, funky, and a medium to viscous mouthfeel Overall: When I used to drink bourbon more regularly, I really loved Wild Turkey’s Rare Breed because of the wet cardboard funkiness it had. I never thought I would get that in a tequila, but here we are (with a blanco, no less). The finish was a little underwhelming and the price was a bit steep, but once I gave this a chance to open up a bit, I was pleasantly surprised.
