Nose:Cooked agave with an earthy vibe, plus caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch. Palate: Cooked agave and vanilla flavors that are super tasty! Not the most complex, but pretty good. Good balance of bourbon but not too much age influence for me to where it feels like a bourbon like an Arte 1146 or Tears. Finish: Decent, but it’s pretty short. Not the best bang for your buck, but still a quality pour. I like Mijenta, but for around 160 that I have seen it, I wouldn’t pay that. Value brought down my score quite a bit.

Aroma: 21/25 Tasted in a rocks glass so please take this with a grain of salt. Cooked agave with an earthy undertone. Some orange peel and herbal characteristics. Good but ethanol does emerge, which I attribute to glass. Palate: 28/30 Holy cooked agave vanilla decadence! This is really dang good. While it’s not the most complex, it is fantastic. Finish: 20/25 Good but very short finish Value: 6/10 Not great, but a quality pour

A great complex anejo with a depth of aromas and flavors. A very easy sipping anejo with no burn at all. Nose: cooked agave, vanilla, oak, caramel, butter, and cherry. Palate: cooked agave, vanilla, oak, black pepper, caramel, cinnamon, chocolate, butter, and cherry. While there is an abundance of complexity here, the finish is very short and leaves me wanting more. Still a great anejo that is easy to sip but loses some points mainly for value. Also my bottle lists NOM 1499.

I must admit I have not been the biggest Mijenta fan. This is a great tequila. The nose is unique with this champagne yeast. So sweet on the nose with agave and floral notes. I am getting vanilla and caramel at a luscious level. The taste is just as exciting. There is a bit of alcohol presence but the sweetness shines through. Plenty of caramel and vanilla.

Nose: fine champagne or wine / fruity / vanilla: plum-grape/ green apple / pear / mint / cream soda Taste: agave sweet and apple - huge sweetness with fruitiness overflowing/ apple / grape / plum / vanilla/ black pepper/ mint/ maple and chocolate Finish: So many different flavors creating an orchestra of flavor that has sweet champagne and chocolate as the melody. Beautiful mouthfeel that lingers with that chocolate and mint harmony. Encore!!!! Summary: Wow. The sweetness and champagne chocolate notes won’t work for everyone’s palate, but if there was ever a dessert tequila, this is it.

A lot of sweet that falls in a hit of alcohol and then flat nothing.

Really pleasant heavy oak derived sweetness, picking up on the cherry wood used in the aging process. Very clean.

Tried a sample. Nice barrel nose with pepper on finish. Easy palate but not a lot going on. Price needs to be less for this one.

Notes on the nose were overwhelming dominated by ethanol. The profile was ok with hints of oak, pepper, but very little cooked agave present. The issue was the finish was defined by an ethanol burn. Even after airing it out a while not much changed. It was not terrible however at $170 I can’t justify recommending this. The majority of the influencers promoting this spend more time talking about it being women owned etc etc than the actual juice. But I’m the end I always suggest people make up their own minds. I may revisit and give it another try in a few weeks.

MJ/ANE/HV/001/23 Initial nasal impact is warming. Aroma: Cooked agave, caramel, cherry, prune, oak Buttery mouthfeel with sufficient alcohol. Flavor: Cherry and prune, cooked agave, caramel, baking spice, wood notes. Finish: Medium (wish it was longer because I really like this). A couple points off for finish and price

march 25, 2023 tried at pnw agave club event at mission cantina in seattle. nom 1412. only a few of us got to try about 1/2 oz each. I liked it but it was difficult to do it justice with such a small pour, and I didn't write down my notes. would have rated higher but points off for price

Loved the taste of this at a local event. I was one of half a dozen that were treated to about half ounce each. Enough to get the taste and not enough to really savor. Price of around $200 US holds this back but the melange of barrels has a well done and not overbearing influence on the aging of this spirit. This was the only NOM 1412 product available, the Reposado and Blanco were from 1499.

Overall solid. Aroma is nice. Too much oak, lacking agave flavor. Finish is good. Points deducted for the price point.

Mijenta Añejo – Score: 91/100 Flight: Traditional Añejo Flight Contestants: * Terralta Añejo * Tapatío Añejo * El Tesoro Añejo * Mijenta Añejo The final pour of tonight’s añejo flight was Mijenta Añejo. Closing out the lineup, it presented a richer, creamier mouthfeel with an emphasis on fermentation, baking spices, and barrel influence. While the agave remained present, the oak played a more noticeable role throughout the experience. Nose The nose opens with fermentation accompanied by subtle sweetness. The aromas are inviting and hint at the richer style that follows on the palate. Taste The palate is thick, almost creamy, delivering layers of agave sweetness alongside cinnamon, baking spices, and black pepper. The fermentation character adds depth while the mouthfeel provides a luxurious texture that coats the palate beautifully. Finish The finish introduces drying oak tannins that create a pleasant structure while lingering fermentation remains on the palate. Cinnamon, baking spices, and black pepper provide a long, warming finish, with the barrel influence becoming more noticeable as the sip fades. Overall Mijenta Añejo offers a rich, elegant interpretation of traditional añejo. Its creamy texture and layered spice profile make for an enjoyable sip, while the oak contributes noticeable structure through the finish. Although the barrel influence is more pronounced than in El Tesoro, the tequila still delivers a balanced experience with lingering fermentation and agave sweetness. It is a refined añejo that finishes the flight on a strong note. Score: 91/100

The aroma is rich and layered with cooked agave leading the way, followed by caramel, vanilla, and a nice earthy note. I also picked up some cherry, butterscotch, and a hint of citrus that keeps it from feeling too heavy. On the palate, the cooked agave is still front and center, balanced by oak, vanilla, caramel, and black pepper. There's a little metallic note in the background, but it doesn't distract from the overall profile. It's full-bodied with a smooth, rich mouthfeel. The finish is long and enjoyable. The oak, caramel, vanilla, and cooked agave linger for quite a while, with just enough pepper to keep things interesting all the way through.

Nose: Cacao nib, caramel, cooked agave, tobacco, and cherry. The four barrel blend announces itself immediately. Floral and elegant throughout. Palate: Smooth and velvety. Caramelized agave leads into dried cherries, toffee, vanilla, and soft oak. Black pepper and coffee build mid-palate. Finish: Lasting and warm. Chocolate, honey, and soft tobacco fading slowly. More barrel than agave by the end but never heavy. Overall: Mijenta's most ambitious bottle delivers on its promise. The four-cask gamble pays off with a perfectly balanced finish.

Aroma Cooked agave warmth right away. Chocolate, butterscotch, vanilla, and faint tobacco. Subtle dried fruit and spice hints. Very inviting with oak influence that stays in harmony, not dominance. Palate Velvety texture Caramelized agave and toffee sweetness Layers of dried cherries, coffee, and soft oak Gentle spice and subtle oak-driven vanilla There’s a nice dance between fruit, oak, and spice, making it rich but not heavy. Finish Long, warm, lingering Sweet notes stick around vanilla, butterscotch, a touch of spice The finish hangs on with charm rather than bite.
