An interesting release from Mijenta. I found substantial influence from the barrel on the nose of this Reposado. Barrel spice, cinnamon, clove, light caramel, cooked agave, a floral component, citrus, pepper, and butterscotch. On the palate the spices really take over with cinnamon, and clove being the leading notes for me. The finish was mid range with cooked agave and a bit of vanilla coming through. Although I do like this Reposado, it is not my preferred profile. A bit too much spice for my palate, and lacking some of the sweetness that I’ve enjoyed from Mijenta’s previous releases. Additionally, this new special release continues a trend I’ve found throughout Mijenta’s entire catalog. For me, the aroma on Mijenta’s releases tend to be the best part of the spirit. Meanwhile, the palate doesn’t quite live up to the high benchmark set on the nose.

Best mijenta so far! Thanks Dan for the taste! More flavor than the regular Blanco and that’s saying something.

For a cristalino it’s not bad. Initially it’s pretty sweet and then a tad bitter on the finish. Plenty of pepper from the añejo.

Plenty of heat and pepper. I kinda like a bold Añejo!

A nice repo that leans into the spices. I picked up a hearty amount of baking spice, cinnamon, caramel, floral components, pepper, cooked agave, light minerality, vanilla, and a touch of honey.
