Nice viscosity in the mouth along with barrel spice, oak, roast agave, caramel and a nice ethanol punch. Tasted at Monterey 10/18/2025
NOM 1614 | Sampled at Starved Rock Tequila Fest.
NOM 1614 | This was a really enjoyable pour. Rich, layered, and beautifully balanced between agave and barrel. Definitely felt like a special treat. On the nose, the cooked agave is still present, which is great to find in an XA. Oak and vanilla come through smoothly, with dried fruit adding depth and sweetness. Cinnamon and caramel bring warmth, baking spices round it out, and there’s even a buttery richness that makes it feel luxurious. On the palate, the cooked agave holds steady against the barrel influence, joined by ripe dried fruit and smooth oak. Vanilla and caramel weave in with butterscotch and baking spice, while cinnamon adds a gentle warmth. The buttery texture really stands out here, giving the whole experience a creamy, dessert-like quality without being overpowering. Overall, this extra anejo is refined and elegant while still showing off its agave roots. The layers of sweetness, spice, and richness make it one to slow down and savor. A standout XA that feels indulgent but well-crafted.
NOM 1614 | Nose - Orange peel, sweet notes from the cooked agave, barrel notes, backing spice, cherries. Palette - Rich cooked agave, cherries, spice, chocolate, raisin. This continues to bring deep flavors the longer it opens up. Finish - Great mouth feel, all of the deep flavors come together in long finish on this EA.
NOM 1599 | This is Cazcanes’ first XA out of NOM1614 - TTAP. It’s an 80 proof, 40% ABV Extra Añejo aged 37 months in Re-charred Ex-Bourbon Barrels. A small number of French Oak staves were also used during the aging process. This nose is complex with aromas of dark caramelized agave and barrel spices from both the AO and the FO. There’s some candied orange peel, apricot, leather, and a hint of chocolate with an earthy undertone. On the palate, I’m detecting rich caramelized agave that’s earthy and spicy. The baking spices from the AO and the sweetness from the FO. There is a nice minerality and some dark ripe fruits. There’s a nice sweet and spicy finish. Overall this is a nice and layered XA that’s flavorful and cohesive. It’s a tasty mix of sweet and savory.
NOM 1614 | Nose: some cooked agave, butter, dried fruit, dark cherries, vanilla and light oak Flavor: sweet cooked agave, butterscotch, vanilla, backing spices, and buttery mouthfeel Finish is medium with some white pepper and some dark chocolate
NOM 1614 | This is the new 1614 XA. Nice caramel nose with vanilla and buttercream. Very light oak. On the palate, I get barrel notes of cinnamon, caramel and vanilla. A no. 9 of this would really pop. I like this XA. Would like to try against the old XA and I do have one pour left of that one so will update when I do that.
NOM 1614 | Lots of dried fruit on the aroma and flavor. I’m getting butter on the nose, but especially in the finish. This is a gentle (not overly woody) XA that’s fun to drink. And I’m not usually a fan of extra añejos, but this one is an exception. [batch #EA72501]
NOM 1599 | Nom 1599. Amazing expression, balanced notes of cooked sweet agave and barrel flavors, nice finish
NOM 1599 | Batch EA01/22 courtesy of Jon-Paul. Very nice nose that gives lots of barrel aromas. Some agave, cinnamon, vanilla and oak. The whiskey notes come through in a pleasant way. The taste is very nice with the barrel flavors coming on first. Oak, caramel, chocolate, dried fruits. Nice mouthfeel and viscosity. I hope their new XA is as good as this one.
NOM 1599 | This extra añejo is pretty tasty!
NOM 1614 | Butterscotch, dried fruit, cherry, tobacco Hint of sherry, love the mix of the barrels Great sipper for the Fall , perfect time
NOM 1614 | Tasted at Arte agave Atl 25. Very good xa.

Great smell that gives off toasted marshmallow with some dried fruits. The taste is equally as nice with oak, agave, vanilla, butterscotch, some tropical fruits, and pepper. Nice long finish that leaves your mouth watering for more.

Finish sneaks up on you
NOM 1614 | Bottle: Batch No. EA72501 Appearance: Fossilized amber Initial thoughts… Nose: Caramel, toffee, cooked agave Palate: Molasses, dark chocolate, dry earth Finish: White pepper, clove, oak Final review pending…
NOM 1614 | On the nose I get really rich sweet cooked agave, caramel, dark cherries and dried fruit, fresh green apple, oak, vanilla bean, butterscotch, and a little Tabacco. On the palate I get tons of that sweet agave, followed by butterscotch, caramel, fresh vanilla bean, dried tropical fruits, oak, cinnamon a little mint and cacao. For me this bottle hits all the right notes. It’s rich, complex, and super flavorful. The agave also isn’t overpowered by the oak and surprisingly still has a nice amount of freshness.
NOM 1599 | Very smooth, sweet with agave and caramel. A nice lingering, slightly spicy finish.
NOM 1599 | Great XA. Ariana’s and flavor do not disappoint!
