Aromas of alcohol, light citrus and some agave sweetness. Somewhat neutral overall. Sweet across the palate, some lime citrus, muted at first but with a burst of sweetness at the end. Some alcohol notes and heat on the finish, as well as a lingering sweetness. Overall it was better than I expected. Perhaps not the best for sipping but would go perfectly well in a mixed drink. If there are any additives they are background elements, this still very much tastes like a blanco tequila.
Update: From memory, There are flavors of caramel and slight citrus but overall the ethanol is far too scathing and overpowering for me to enjoy and right away I felt a slight headache occur which was an alarming phenomenon to me. There is a sweetness that I could not readily identify due to the scathing alcohol dominance. I personally do not see myself revisiting this drink.
Nose: Caramel and vanilla jump out first, followed by some honey and a pretty clear oak presence. There’s a noticeable hit of ethanol that doesn’t completely blow out the nose, but it’s there. Palate & Mouthfeel: Oak-forward with some black pepper and caramel in the mix. A little agave peeks through, but it’s faint. Medium body overall. There’s also a leathery bitterness that hangs in the background. It’s not totally off putting, but definitely noticeable. Finish: Peppery and dry, with a lingering bitterness that keeps it from feeling clean. Final Thoughts: Honestly, not nearly as bad as some of the TMM reviews had me bracing for. It’s not complex or layered, and the bitterness gives it a slightly rough edge, but it doesn’t veer into offensive territory. Just kind of a one note, oaky pour with some weird quirks. Manageable, but forgettable.
