Bottle: 1 ra Edicion Limitada, 6000 Botellas, 3118, L 230815DFB002 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked and raw agave, flowers, orange blossom, lavender, citrus, lemon, lime, vanilla, minerality, herbal, mint, cinnamon, brine/salinity, white pepper, and olive…floral and citrusy Palate: Cooked and raw agave, vanilla, citrus, blood orange, grass, cinnamon, barrel spice, flowers, lavender, minerality, brine/salinity, olive, black pepper, alcohol, and peppermint…the barrel influence was more apparent Finish: Brine/salinity, olive, alcohol, and grass…thin mouthfeel and short to medium length Overall: After accidentally deleting my first review, I had the pleasure of digging up my old notes and tasting this again for a second full review. I didn’t find any of the off-putting petrol or rubber notes that others experienced, but I was left wanting for more intensity throughout. Although I enjoyed the range of aromas and flavors, both the nose and palate felt rather muted and neutral. Good pour, but not the most complex option available.
Bottle: 1 ra Edicion Limitada, 6000 Botellas, 0406, L 270814DFR001 Appearance: Dark straw Nose: Cooked agave, flowers, jasmine, orange blossom, melon rind, oak, cinnamon, baking spice, vanilla, butter, mint, alcohol, dry earth, honey, and plum…sweet, light, and floral Palate: Cooked agave, oak, barrel spice, cinnamon, vanilla, black pepper, dry earth, alcohol, raisin, coffee, flowers, jasmine, pine resin, baking spice, charcoal, and molasses…less floral and more oaky than the nose, with a slight bitterness Finish: Coffee, charcoal, butter, cinnamon, baking spice, and barrel spice…medium and warming, but ramps up the bitterness Overall: The nose on this was really nice and, despite the harshness on the tail end, this is still quite enjoyable to sip. It was strange, though, because the finish felt out of place given the lightness and sweetness of the aromas. I was able to get a pretty good deal on the bottle and am glad that I got to try it.
