Socorro Añejo This is an Agavos Gold winner. The unique component of this spirit is that it’s aged in virgin American white oak barrels for 14 months. No other spirit was aged in their barrels. You’re getting the agave and the barrel influence without an added component of bourbon, wine, sherry, cognac, etcetera. The aromas are pronounced notes of caramelized agave and American oak (AO) spice. The AO spice notes are on the dry side. There are hints of honey and peaches with some faint cinnamon. On the palate, cooked agave and caramel hit up front, quickly followed by dry AO barrel spice and cinnamon. There’s some stone-fruit sweetness—mostly peach, but some cherry too. The cinnamon carries into the dry finish. Overall, the nose is dry but bold. The flavors are pronounced and unique. It smells and tastes great, and the price is nice too.

The aroma is very dry with a lot of oak and leather. I also get a dried cherry and peach. I like the aroma a lot. It does lose most of the agave but it smells nice and somewhat unique. Flavor is very heavy on the oak. There is a hint of an agave/honey like sweetness and I do get some tart dried fruit. The finish is a tad bitter and lingers a while but it’s good. The value really pumps the score up as this is about a $40 bottle. Hard to beat that price on an Añejo but it’s a good bottle and something I think a lot of folks newer to tequila especially from whiskey would enjoy.

Serious value points on this one for only ~$37. Overall presents a fruitier profile than many añejos! Oak, caramel, fruit, baking spices, light agave.

Nose: something slightly funky going on initially, can’t pinpoint it, almost cheesy/lactic, opens up to butterscotch, vanilla, but funkiness lingers, opens up to cherry, vanilla Flavor: same funkiness hits you then opens to caramel, oak, pepper, vanilla, after initial flavor passes finish is nice Finish- not bad rounds out nicely, vanilla, caramel, oak Value - rated higher than normal Overall: reopened this afternoon 5+ years and I would recommend go friends interested in starting agave journey.

Had this at a hotel bar and was pleasantly surprised. Good flavor. Aroma is light. Smooth good finish. Excellent for a bar pour when the menu otherwise sucked. Additive free. Would drink again.
