“Fantastic offering that is a big value at retail. I get a lot of the wine barrels on the nose and palate, but it still also has some of the oak from the bourbon barrels. This one is complex, and I’m no expert so not able to pick out all the notes. It’s worth the price if you find it”

“It’s not bad for the price point but herradura ultra is far more interesting ”

“Smooth with hints of light oak and vanilla. Finish is mild. My wife’s favorite tequila but just middle of the road for me. With prices rising to nearly $200 in Kentucky (depends on store) I think it’s not a great value and many other offerings beat it. But hey, marketing and the fact that most of the ladies on the “housewives” shows drink it on camera it certainly sells well ”

“Replace the vanilla aromas and flavors of 1942 with light orange and you’ve got this tequila. I found it in FL for $140 and not unhappy about the purchase but I wouldn’t buy again. Funny lots of poor reviews but to me this has a better nose and palate than original 1942 but I tend to prefer tequilas with more of a bourbon profile ”

“Nose is very floral with hints of cooked agave. Palate is very, very smooth with a little bit of pepper on the end. Finish is fairly short but you know you are drinking tequila. For $20 you can’t beat this bottle for shots or cocktails. I even sip it, but don’t expect a lot of complexity if you do and you shouldn’t fault it for that”

“Nose has a sweet vanilla with traces of oak and a hint of agave. Palate has a good amount of oak with pepper spice. Finish is solid. I enjoyed this more than my wife as this is more of a “bourbon-y” profile as she says. I would buy another bottle but at $70 all in I think there may be better values out there, if sticking with Añejo rather than the clear Añejo options ”

“Agave, oak and vanilla on the nose as well as the palate. It’s on the sweet side, with no harsh alcohol notes evident. Palate continues the sweet theme with a decent mouthfeel for an 80 proof tequila. Finish fades quickly but I didn’t expect much due to the proof. It could have a little more character but I’m satisfied with the purchase and think it’s good value under $60.”
