don’t love the nose. Palate just ok

Aroma: some barrel notes, cinnamon, Flavor: 1137 Funk, nutty, a little sweet Finish: short

Similar profile as the base blanco. Cooked agave, citrus, funk, light astringent, minerality with new flavor profiles arriving from the 5 month aging process in ex-Jack Daniel’s barrels. Caramel, vanilla, I even got some nuttiness which I was not expecting. For the price, this repo provides a tremendous value proposition.

The smell had a bit of lactic that was the unpleasant taste and smell. The taste was also just funky in a bad way. Bad bottle ?

the Cofradia funk is big on the aroma. have a hard time pulling anything else out. could be off-putting to those on the fence with NOM 1137. the flavor opens to cheesy, lactic agave but the pepper (44.5 ABV) cuts in to subdue the funk a bit. wood on the med+ finish. if you have a hard time with Cofradia, this is not going to be a pleasurable sipper for you. this repo is aged 5 months, has nice heat and like the blanco, comes in a 1ltr bottle for $34.99 and has a screw cap

This was one of the more distinctive pours of the evening, but not in a direction that suited my palate. While I appreciate a tequila with personality, the dominant herbal notes pulled attention away from the agave and ultimately held this one back. Nose The aroma opens with fermentation funk and mineral notes, followed by light oak and subtle barrel influence. It’s earthy and expressive, giving the impression that this will be a bold pour. Taste The palate is driven by black licorice and mint, backed by oak and light tannins. The herbal character quickly becomes the focal point, with only modest spice and very little agave sweetness breaking through. It’s certainly unique, but the flavor combination never really came together for me. Finish The finish carries lingering licorice with earthy fermentation notes and a gentle warmth. While the warmth stays around briefly, the overall finish is fairly short and leaves the herbal profile lingering the longest. Overall ElVelo Reposado is a tequila with a clear identity, and I can appreciate that it isn’t trying to taste like everything else. Unfortunately, the combination of black licorice, mint, and earthy funk simply doesn’t align with my palate. I respect what it’s doing, but it’s not a bottle I’d find myself reaching for very often. Drinkers who enjoy bold herbal profiles may have a very different experience, but for me this was one of the more challenging pours in the flight. Score: 80/100

On the Nose I get a funkiness I can't explain followed by ethanol then a little Oak. On the palate more of that funkiness with straight alcohol unfortunately doesn't fit my flavor profile but might be nice for a mixer .

This tequila is incredibly delicious and the price is amazing. It surprised my wife and I both with the low price point- exceeded my expectations. Aroma- light aroma overall- citrus, butter, very light vanilla, some pepper minerality with some agave, Palate- wow- the taste of this tequila is amazing. Agave forward- pepper- cinnamon- buttery creamy vanilla with an earthiness wet grass coating throughout. Finish- perfect finish- complex with an oakiness and agave evolving throughout that ends very clean with slight numbing. Three to five minutes later and I still have agave and an oakiness still lingering- very nice.

In the nose better than in mouth. The issue for me is that the alcohol taste was too strong for a reposado, especially at this price. This, combined with a very strong finish of a bitter orange peel or grapefruit peel did not make it a great sipping tequila for me. However I’d recommend it 5/5 as a mixer or over a healthy amount of ice. Or as good ole fashioned fancy tequila shot with salt and maybe lime or an orange slice. I later had this in a tamarind tequila with a Tajín rim. That’s what it’s perfect for!

Raw & cooked agave, earth, and a bit of smoke in the aromas. Cooked agave, roasted nuts in the taste. Finish with some orange peel and vinegar. Not in a bad taste. It kinda mingles with the rest.
