A bit too thin for the barrel to really take the lead, but a nice effort. Boozy back end with a long and enjoyable finish.

Too much Cofradia Funk for my taste but the aging and spice of the base Blanco blend well, it just has that funk.

Aroma is nondescript with slight nutty notes and a bit of cooked agave. Flavor is also flat without anything of note. Some peppery heat appears at the end and lingers for a moderate finish. Disappointing relative to the Blanco Supreme and blanco Vivo. 07-05-2023

Siempre Flight Night Tonight’s flight explores three very different expressions from Siempre Tequila: Siempre Reposado Siempre Rebel Cask Reposado Siempre Añejo The goal isn’t simply to find a favorite. It’s to see how barrel influence changes the character of the tequila as it moves from a traditional reposado to a whiskey barrel finish and finally into añejo territory. Over the last several reviews I’ve learned that my palate tends to favor agave, minerality, pepper, fermentation character, and baking spice over heavy oak and bourbon-like sweetness. Tonight’s flight should be a great test of where Siempre lands on that spectrum. Let’s see where the agave shines brightest. Siempre Rebel Cask Reposado The nose opens with salty minerality, fermentation character, and vegetal notes that immediately remind you this is still tequila first. Despite the additional barrel influence, the agave-driven character remains present and inviting. On the palate, pepper and warmth arrive first, followed by a subtle spicy sweetness that becomes more noticeable as the glass opens up. The texture is balanced with a touch more tannin than a traditional reposado, adding structure without becoming overly aggressive. The finish is long, warm, and satisfying. Notes of leather and tobacco linger alongside the spice, creating a profile that feels rich and mature without drifting too far into bourbon territory. The lingering character reminds me of enjoying a fine cigar after a round of golf. A unique expression that successfully balances barrel influence with the agave, mineral, and fermentation notes that make tequila special.

Lote L-R06092311 09/23 Barrel No: E01-N02-B02 Barrel Trpe: Buffalo Trace Aroma: agave, honey, caramel, some resinous and alcohol tingle Flavor: juicy agave, and rich caramel and toffee with some stone fruit Mouthfeel: medium body with some alcohol burn across the mid palette Finish: decent length with sweetness at the beginning and some alcohol notes at the end Color: light golden yellow This is an enjoyable single barrel hand selected by El Cerrito Liquor and Horus Aged Ales that was later used to age stout in, after being emptied of the tequila.
