2024 coffin box. The price is high, but outside that it’s an excellent tequila. Grabbed a glass for a reasonable bar price so I’m not complaining. Classic G4 notes that aren’t over oaked.
Bottle: 15/08/2023, LG0001R42ME Appearance: Light hay Full review pending…
Nice agave and barrel on the nose. Almost sweet. Palate not bad but doesn’t wow me. Little bitterness and pepper on the finish. Price is definitely on the high end
Great product, points lost for price (Day of the Dead version)
The cost really hurts this one.
Very nice Repo. Loses multiple points for overpriced coffin. Black pepper. Anise. Light barrel influence that is pleasurable. Agave is present as well as some dryness from the wood. Bottle should be $85, not $300+
Día de los Muertos 2023. Minerality is prevalent.
G4 madera repo LOVE!!! Only had a small sample at Monterey tequila fest 2023. Absolutely loved it! another hit from Felipe Camarena and el pandillo distillery. would love to see them release this without the fancy box and a more affordable price tag. then it could be an everyday sipper.
Tasted at MTBC 2023. Price brings the score down.
Points lost for price.
amazing aroma, spicy, floral and agave. consistent transition with flavor, nice spicy finish. I wish they would've kept the proof higher and the price lower!!!!
Sweet cooked agave, followed by cooking spices, cinnamon, light heat, excellent finish.
I rated the Day of the Dead version. It's absolutely amazing, spicy and sweet. The prices is another matter
Got to try a sample of this exceptional Reposado. The aromas and taste explode on your palate. The notes of the barrel just hit and round out this expression perfectly. Notes of cooked cinnamon, baking spices and TONS of agave are present in the cup. Price is the only thing I can’t get behind. I understand the limited release, honoring Dia de Muertos and it’s a very special bottle and packaging. This is truly a collectible piece but above my budget.
I am a fan of this one from G4. The nose gives you cooked agave with cinnamon and a faint caramel for a slightly sweet aroma. Black pepper joins in for that spicy note. The taste follows a lot of the aroma notes with some oak blending in. It definitely reminds me of the G4 family and I enjoy sipping this after dinner.
This has a nice nose on it and the taste was noticeable different than the other G4 Blancos I have tried. This was smoother and felt thicker on my tongue much more depth and character. The finish was smooth and lingered in a nice way. Reviewed as part of a G4 vertical tasting flight comparing proof, texture, and oak progression across the lineup. Flight #1 — G4 Vertical Tasting 1. G4 Blanco 2. G4 Blanco 108 / High Proof 3. G4 Madera Reposado 4. G4 Reposado 5. G4 Añejo • Blanco clean mineral baseline • 108 / High Proof amplified intensity and pepper • Madera added texture and depth • Reposado softer oak influence • Añejo richer layered finish
Lot 5
Always love G4 to say anything but positivity seems blasphemy. 87 is still a great score in my mind. I think it just shows how so many expressions coming from el Pandillo are hits. I think my little yearning for more robustness is my fault and just biased that I’m no longer a reposado fan as much as I used to be. Not when blancos offer so much flavor and añejos offer a profile more worth aging. There’s plenty of agave just not as robust and fresh. There is a nice butteriness and texture and clean of course. There’s no doubt you can taste the quality as expected.
The only category this lost points for me was in value. It sucks that one of my absolute favorite tequilas is only available in a $300 wooden coffin. I have both the 2023 and 2024. And I’m sure I’ll be getting the 2025 if they make it. But how many novelty coffins does a man need? Anyway, the actual tequila is pretty damn amazing.
Great representation of the Madera lineup, would love to see this regularly like Madera Blanco just without the box set. The aroma and taste are Agave, Cinnamon, Pepper and Vegatal just like any G4 but the wood fermentation tanks makes this taste so much better. This should be a 90-91 on here but the MSRP drops this down a few points.
Amazing Reposado! The price tag is definitely what brings the score down
Oak, melon, citrus, cooked agave, and cherry notes on the palate. Very nice Repo
So I’m new to tequila l, love bourbon. This is my third time having this. It’s much better this time. Love the finish
Exquisite Reposado with notes of cooked agave, honey, pears, caramel, cinnamon, jalapeños, cherries, honey, and star anise. Barrel aging gives it a slight touch up over the G4 Blanco Madera.

So this is number 400 for me. I have rated a ton of tequila this year and I always like to put the 50s and the 100s in a special category. For a few of you that know me well, this Day of the Dead G4 Reposado has special meaning to me. I have been seeking out this bottle for a while. Thank you Brother Keith for coming through for me. The nose, it is unique in that I get a little pine. A lot of agave. This 2024 lote has a touch of XA and I get that deep barrel on the nose. I get vanilla and caramel but only lightly. I get honey. On the palate this is awesome. Sweet cooked agave, rich caramel and vanilla. Black cherry, buttered biscuit. A touch of cinnamon. An excellent tequila.
