I rated this blind-wasn’t sure what expression it was. Rich cooked agave and smooth, balanced barrel notes. Very unique! This was a great gift that I rated a 10 for value based on the $40 price paid. This is a real treat!

Amazing! Special treat, worthy of a 50th anniversary!

It has a nice gold color and a fragrant nose. I let it open up in a Chisholm Trail Stolzle Jarrito Tequila tasting glass for about 30 minutes. I then got pleasant notes of cooked agave, caramel and sweet oak. The agave is buttery and the caramel is light akin to caramelized popcorn. The sweet oak has some nice baking spices from the 4 months in American oak and the 2 months in French oak brings those softer sweet perfume notes. There are some lighter notes of pine and walnuts along with some light natural vanilla. Some faint vegetal bell pepper hides underneath. It’s a nice nose with many layers. The spices from the barrels hit up front but the buttery cooked agave note hits immediately after. Both flavors bring a pleasant natural sweetness. The barrel notes accompany and balance each other nicely. American oak can impart strong bold baking spices and French oak imparts a softer but sweeter profile. The combination of the sweetness from the baked agave and the oaks meld well. There’s some lighter notes of sweet peppers and the caramel from the nose. The flavors are very balanced. It’s a 40% ABV Reposado but it still has a nice presence. It’s spicy and sweet but not overly bold. I find this special release to be very enjoyable and unique.

When I first nosed the glass I had a rush of memories of the first Tequilas I loved and why. This is a balanced masterpiece….background agave is always present through a hot cinnamon, floral sip. If you are fortunate enough to find one of these bottles, do yourself a favour and buy as many as you can carry.

Buttery Caramel Flavour

Aroma is Agave forward with a hint of mineral and earthiness. On the palate cooked agave, vegetal and minerals. A touch of caramel. A lot of pepper on the backend.

Very Oaky with a peppery finish

LT190624R, acquired recently, tasted on 6-29-24. Color: yellow to dark yellow. Aroma: raw agave, slightly herbal, light pepper spiciness, acidic, slightly briny, hint of citrus, hint of vanilla, light wood note, after 20 minutes in the glass light cooked agave notes emerge. Briny and wood note becomes more intense as time goes by. Herbal! Palate: confirms aromas perceived, slightly creamy, briny and wood note is more intense on the palate. Hint of astringency. A hint of lactic and sour note through my retronasal. Finish is medium to medium long, light cooked agave, hint of astringency, light herbaceousness, light acidity, hint of vanilla with wood notes persist.

It's a sweet and smooth start then strong finish!!!

The nose is elegant and smooth with caramel notes. The taste is absolutely outstanding. Vanilla on the front pallette, with a nice smooth finish that gives a nice long leathery finish.

Aged for about 4 months, finished in a toasted Pinot noir barrel. Goes back into the barrels after a flash char for 2 months. Muted on the nose, with vanilla and cherry notes. Nutty and smooth, more savoury than sweet on the tongue. Tingly on the tongue. Perfect HH tequila

This must be made using first fill barrels, the oak seems easily strong enough to be an Añejo.
