On the nose: the agave is there but it’s really playing second fiddle to caramel, butterscotch, and just a general round sweetness. Vanilla. Very clear vanilla. On the palate: Oak, vanilla, butterscotch. Maybe a bit fruity. Agave, very “round”. Gorgeous sweetness. This is from NOM 1651, I would have liked to try the 1414 but damn, this is fantastic. Very well done. Exquisite anejo, and well priced.

NOM 1651 Nose: Oak and cooked agave are the first to show, with a touch of anise and a noticeable but clean alcohol presence. There’s a soft undercurrent of butterscotch and a flash of orange zest that keeps it bright and inviting. Palate & Mouthfeel: A rounded mouthfeel carries a well-structured blend of oak and agave. Black pepper adds edge, while caramel and anise round things out with a bit of sweetness and spice. A floral, slightly green note - think blossoms and stems - adds nuance without overcomplicating the profile. Finish: Gentle warmth lingers with spice and a return of that sweet, cooked agave. Final Thoughts: The layers here are impressive for the price point. It’s well made, balanced, and very tasty. It’s easy to enjoy but interesting enough to keep you coming back.
