Patron anejo sherry cask 2021 Sample from Matt Charney Agave Swappers Nose is fruity with some vanilla and wood Palate is dry and oakie. The sherry presence is there. Too dry and oakie for me.
Patron anejo Sample from Matt Charney Agave Swappers Nose caramel vanilla and barrel spice Palate caramel vanilla oak whiskey and pepper Finish is dry and bitter Its not bad, but its drier and oakier than i prefer and absent of agave
The initial engulfing aroma is, of course, smoky wood with a slight mesquite quality followed with a lactic tone, a lemon citrus note, grassiness with an ethyl sting in the nostrils that is tolerable. The taste, consistently everytime I pour a new fill, is all encompassing smoke, accompanied with a waxy vegeta note, grassiness, cooked agave, and anise. After the palate acclimates, notes of brine, pronounced cooked agave, delicious citrus, black licorice with spicy peppermint are enhanced. Finish is smokey tropical citrusy fruit, with persistent waxy grassiness reminiscent of long lingering mezcals on the palate.
Although I have drink this many times over the years, I see that I have never rated it. I’m down the shore for the weekend and finished the bottle I bought with me. Local store doesn’t have anything worth picking up so I grabbed a 375 of the Patron Repo Nose is actually agave forward. Getting vanilla and caramel. Cinnamon is prominent. On the palate, I get cooked agave, pepper, vanilla, caramel and cinnamon. While this isn’t mind blowing, it also isn’t that bad. I’m gonna rate it a touch higher than where it currently sits. Later I will put this in some blinds with a few other repos to see where it stands.
Loads of citrus, vanilla and a tad of bell pepper on the taste. A little muted
