NOM 1438 | Nose: Fresh and bright, with clean agave leading the way. Mint, lime, and a touch of pineapple bring a crisp, tropical lift that feels lively and classic. Palate & Mouthfeel: Thin yet slightly oily in texture. Sweet agave comes through first but quickly gives way to a mild bitterness. Black pepper and a trace of tropical fruit follow, joined by mint, though the balance feels off as it develops. Finish: Short and unmemorable, tapering into light bitterness without much flavor carryover. Final Thoughts: It starts on a high note with a promising nose, but the palate never quite delivers on that freshness. After the initial agave hit, it turns flat and bitter, closing out with a finish that disappears too quickly.

Very nice. Earthy. Peppery. Loads of agave. Excellent oily finish. A rando ounce at Antojo Tequila Bar in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I liked it!

Nothing too awful here but too much medicinal flavor for me.

NOM 1438 | $23. 50/50 oven/autoclave cooked. Aroma: smoky, cooked agave gets pushed out of the way by alcohol and nostril burn. Let it sit and it opens up to a citrus essential oil and lemongrass, too powerful but slightly interesting after wrestling with it. First swallow lands in definite Robitussin territory with the agave a distant 2nd. Swishing it was tingly but the tingle gave rise to medicine. The finish is trying for cool/fresh/minty/effervescent but it can't shake the dominating medicine flavor. Feels like I drank cough medicine but the agave makes something of a comeback. I'm looking at this bottle like a puppy who just got face-swiped by the family cat.

Review #253 - El Caballo Estrella Tequila Blanco

El Caballo Estrella is a wonderful value brand. The anejo may be my favorite tequila in the $20 range. After trying that one, I knew that I needed to try the entire line. Here's the notes from the blanco.
