“I was disappointed by this blanco. It was super hot at first sip and burned all the way through to the finish. In a margarita, or with club soda/fruit, this might be just fine, but I couldn’t sip and relax into any flavors. Maybe it’s just not for me, but I felt that it lacked any balance or smoothness you might see in this price point. ”

“This is a tequila that demands a bit of opening up. The first smell and taste are odd (I almost sense a blue cheese-like aroma) but then it mellows and it surprises you at the finish. At first sip I didn’t like it, after the third I was hooked- very rare for me. The burn is moderate. It’s not too sweet. And there is a bit of mature oak somewhere in there. It turns into a sipping tequila after it sits in the open for a bit and it can carry you all night!”

“Not too much burn. The flavors are well balanced. Reminds me of a Clase Azul Plata with slightly more heat at the finish and less sweetness. A surprisingly good sipping tequila for a good price. Enjoy at room temp or lightly chilled. ”

“This was a nice surprise. Almost reminds me of a milder mezcal, just the slightest smokiness, a deliciously smooth, very slightly sweet but the perfect blanco to drink all night. ”

“I don’t know what Codigo intended with their blanco, but I wasn’t impressed as compared to their reposado or anejo. The burn was quite intense throughout and I had trouble differentiating flavors. Just a harsh tequila with a subtle agave flavor that is overpowered by the alcohol and a strong earthiness (maybe that isn’t for me!). I couldn’t stomach it room temp or chilled. I’ve tried just about every way to drink this but it’s ended up at the back of the liquor cabinet while I enjoy others at lower price points (Juan Lobo, Lobos, even Milagro). ”

“Oh my, this is quite a treat. I know I know, Clase Azul is overpriced and overly branded, but boy is it good. When you can pour a blanco tequila into a glass at room temp and enjoy, well that should speak for itself. It is a bit sweeter, but in my opinion, not overly so. And if you drink a few glasses you might feel it the next day. But I recommend every one try it, at least once! ”

“What happened with this blanco!? Their extra anejo and anejo are so interesting. This has an odd flavor balance, I almost taste olives when I smell and drink it (which makes it undrinkable for me). A friend tasted heavy vanilla but I had trouble finding any sweetness or smoothness. It’s been at the back of the liquor cabinet for a while where I presume it will stay. For me, best consumed with soda/lime or in a margarita— there is no way I can sip this one. ”
