“NOM1123 strikes again! On the nose: sweet cooked agave, baking spices, I get this cream soda / cherry almond aroma in the middle, white pepper. It’s all there, what more can you expect from a blanco? On the pallet: rich sweet cooked agave immediately up front follows by those baking spices and that creamy / cherry almond aroma I picked up on the nose finishing with the white pepper and a grapefruit bitterness. The heat is minimal, especially for this high ABV ( 49.5% ) it’s there right at the end, but it’s pleasant. Body: medium light Finish: medium / long. After each ship, I inhale and I can still taste that rich cooked agave and some of the other notes. It’s really delicious and makes you want to keep drinking more. Value: I knocked a few points for this, it’s pricey and a limited release. There are other really good Blancos you can have for cheaper but, if you’re a fan of Tahona blancos or 1123 this is a must have. Highly recommend even if it’s just a pour. ”

El Caballito Cerrero Blanco (46%)
“On the nose: I get this mineral note followed by earth and alcohol. The cooked agave is there under it all along with grassy notes and a licorice / anise note. On the pallet: lots going on with this one, minerals and cooked agave gives way to a smokiness similar to a mezcal followed by a natural sweetness, anise / baking spices, with some dark chocolate bitterness at the end. It’s really pleasant. Body: medium light coats the mouth nicely Finish: medium long, this one lingers there’s a lot of complexity for a Blanco Value: absolute buy at $65.99, recommended! ”

Fortaleza Reposado
“Lot 131-R One the nose: fresh cooked agave, minerals, vegetal, olive brine / butteriness, earthy, pepper One the pallet: there’s a slight sweetness when it first hits your mouth that gets overtaken by the cooked agave, brine / butter, vegetal, and pepper notes finishing with some baking spices. It’s tasty stuff, very balanced. Body: medium to medium heavy, the coating you get is fantastic, oily and buttery like a warm hug. Finish: medium, not much heat on the back end I get mostly some white pepper / slight bitterness that leaves way to a pleasant aftertaste of that initial sweetness making you want to go back for more. Value: I got this at or near MSRP ( $69.99 ) at that price it’s an absolute buy. (9/10) I know prices and availability Fortaleza vary wildly depending on your location. It’s a great tequila, there are other options out there that are right up there with it. Should you spend the premium? It depends on how high that premium is, your budget, and availability. ”

Cascahuín Reposado
“NOM 1123 - 42% ABV LOT 548 I’m certain that this use to be 40% ABV ( 80 proof ) this is my first time tasting the 42% ABV ( 84 proof ) version. On the nose: strong notes of cooked agave, vegetal, pepper, a slight vanilla / honey / molasses sweetness, some baking spices with a hint of mint / anise. One the pallet: coats the mouth nicely, I’d say medium body, buttery. Right away you get this nice natural sweetness from the cooked agave with some olive brine notes followed by vegetal flavors and white pepper with a hint of mint. theres a little heat at the end but it’s pleasant. After a few sips it’s completely gone. Finish: medium and amazing for a tequila of this price ( $55 + tax I’ve seen it going for anywhere from $55-$69.99 ) Value: if you can find a bottle between $55 and $60 it’s a must have. I’ve seen some places to sell it for as much as 70+ in the NE. Another home run from 1123 loving what Chava is pumping out. ”

Cazcanes No. 7 Reposado
“Batch: R72303 NOM:1614 This is my first time trying Cazcanes. Initial impressions the nose is lovely, but I’m not getting that punchy agave forward / vegetal nose I’m use too from other brands like Cascahuin, G4, etc. The juice is tasty but, something is missing to me. I’m thinking it’s the complexity and finish. The finish is short and sweet with some lingering honey / molasses after you send it down the hatch but it fades quickly. This will entice you to keep sipping to keep the flavor wave going, but I just feel like there are other options that can be had for less money and are better in my opinion. This is what Clase Azul should taste like. I’ll definitely be using this to convert my friend to the additive free world of tequila. Knocked some serious points for the value 5/10. If the price point was 65 - 70 bucks I’d rate it 10/10. ”
