Nose: agave cooked / pepper/ minerals/ earth / hint of apple / citrus / grapefruit/ tea / hint of baking spices Taste: agave cooked / anise/ pepper / earth / minerals / hint of banana/ hint of melon / hint of citrus / spearmint/ baking spices / cream soda Finish: light viscosity and an up front sweetness make for an enjoyable mouthfeel that lingers with agave, anise, and some light pepper notes that last after the swallow. This blanco has nice sweetness and a good balance of sweet and pepper. There are detectable aromas but as a whole the nose is weak. Overall this is a nice blanco you could date and bring home to meet your family without being embarrassed.
Nose is cooked agave, alcohol, vegetal grassy notes. Taste is agave, herbal, grassy and cooked agave. The finish was a bit light, flavors quickly vanished leaving me wanting more. This is a great Blanco, I did enjoy the Valles expression a bit more.
Aroma of agave, cracked black pepper, vinyl. Flavor of agave and up front burn with slight black licorice, cotton candy, and white pepper. All flavors are well balanced but subtle. Expected more but is ok for what it is.
Bottle: SABC02291, 188165, Batch 15, 31/01/23 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked and raw agave, citrus, lime, grapefruit, minerality, limestone, butter, alcohol, wet earth, vegetal, wet and dry grass, black and white pepper, light mint, and subtle smoke…so fresh and so clean Palate: Cooked and raw agave, butter, minerality, black pepper, jalapeño, alcohol, wet and dry earth, anise, vegetal, bell pepper, cut and dry grass, baking spice, cinnamon, melon, olive, and citrus…just the right amount of bite Finish: Cinnamon, black pepper, alcohol, and jalapeño…thinner viscosity and medium-length Overall: Drinking this reminds me of people who wore leather jackets to high school in the 80’s and 90’s…edgy, but still looking for acceptance and validation. It has a really nice bite on the palate, but started off with its vulnerable, more intimate side. I would probably have rated it more highly if the price wasn’t about $10-$15 over the mark.
Nice nose, floral, minty, some citrus, little hints of caramel/oak, flavor is nice, front is smooth, citrus, mint, pepper strong in middle/end, slight afterburn but very drinkable, definitely worth a shot if you like highlands/altos blancos
Only had a small taste and will need to revisit, but the first impression was very nice. Revisited: more smoky and earthy than I remembered. Very interesting.
N- Agave, lemon citrus, earth, minerality T- sweet baked agave, black pepper, mango fruitiness, a little earth, a little anise, more citrus M- medium mouth feel and long legs left in the glass F- Medium peppery/alcohol heat finish V- Decent value if I didn't have to have it shipped
Batch 14 This was a nice surprise. I usually always like 1123 over 1414 blancos but this Siembra Azul definitely edged out Siembra Valles blanco 40abv. Nose: Cooked agave, earth and pit -smoke like (almost like a touch of Mezcal), fresh mint, and earth. Palate: This baby is very easy to drink. I get cooked agave, earth, vegetal notes, and a light touch of smoke. Finish: Delayed heat (black pepper) about 10 seconds after the sip. I really enjoyed this!
Tried neat at a restaurant for USD10. Poured into a small wine glass. Nose: very faint, perhaps due to glassware used. Flavor: agave, some yeast, light fruitiness. Pleasing and light. Unoffensive.
Straw color, so I’m curious to understand if this rested in a barrel (?). I’m trying this at a restaurant and will definitely buy a bottle. This is the kind of blanco you can easily drink while enjoying a meal.
Very good blonco. Tons of agave, citrus, little fruitiness with an high peppery finish.
Aroma : Bright cooked agave, light fruit, grass, and black pepper. Taste : Medium bodied with agave, cinnamon, and citrus predominating. There are some undertones of earth and pepper too. Finish : Medium length with a bit more cinnamon and pepper spice. Good stuff, I'm happy to finally find a bottle of this.
Aroma: butter, mint, earth, grass, anise, sweet tropical fruits, yeast, herbal, agave. Palate: sweet agave, spring water, lemon balm, allspice, olives, tobacco, anise, white pepper, vanilla, mint, alcohol. Finish med-long with black pepper, green peppers, cucumbers, lime and spices.
I found a vegetal, sweet cooked agave nose with light pepper, light anise, fruit, light smoke and citrus. Taste of earth, citrus, sweet argave, pepper, fruit, not too smooth and it's right where you want actequila to be.
Agave forward nose as well as taste, on point for a blanco. Finish lingers nicely.
This review is partial review and partial contrast to the Siembra Valles. The Siembra Azul has a slightly better nose. There is more of the green agave and less of the mineral. The taste is brighter and crisper. There is more citrus but plenty of agave. The finish is about the same, excellent. I rated the Siembra Azul slightly higher but both are wonderful choices. Salud!
I would have rated this a bit higher if I didn't have to strain some floaters from the recently bought bottle. I thought at first it was some flock that had precipitated out in the less than 60° F. storage area but it didn't disperse after shaking. I filtered the whole bottle and it hasn't returned. This blanco is on par with 7 Leguas or Tapatio or Herencia Mexicana as far as agave fruit and white pepper on the tongue and in the mouth. More info on the label than even Ocho, listing yeast and distillation notes.
Tasted blind after aeration. Smells of alcohol, green agave, and an initial hit of rubber that dissipates after opening up. Clear in the glass, with slow legs and few pearls. Medium body in the mouth with a spicy entry. Flavor of grass and butter. It's spicy with the slightest sweetness. The spice lingers nicely, but it's not as big as the entry. This is nice, an enjoyable sipper, but for $46 there are better options out there.
Cinnamon, mint, cooked agave and pepper aromas with a focused cinnamon flavor.
Agave Spice ,Oily Mouth Feel & A Dry Pepper Finish
bright nose of agave and citrus with a touch of minerality and earth. sweet agave in the palate. very easy drinking. not the most complex but downright tasty as hell in its simplicity. viscosity is greater than you'd expect from a standard 80 proof. borers on elegant. just really well made tequila.
In the aroma, cooked agave and citrus come through first with pepper, wet grass, and earthy vegetal notes right behind them. There’s a fresh minerality to it that keeps everything bright and lively. On the palate, cooked agave stays front and center alongside black pepper, citrus, wet earth, and green vegetal flavors. It has a crisp, natural profile with a nice balance between earthy and fresh. The finish lingers with a warm peppery burn that hangs on nicely without overpowering the agave character.
Not as good as Alteno or Valles but same price?
slightly smokey, but not overpowering like mezcals. amazing finish

Nose of cooked agave and citrus. Grapefruit is the prominent citrus. This is earthy yet still vibrant. I get a touch of mint on the nose. The taste is very nice. First is agave and then I get anise. Plenty of citrus on the palate along with other fruits. It is earthy and tastes of minerals. The finish is clean and lingers for only a short time. Viscosity is medium and feels nice in the mouth. I have dropped this a point on value because many other 70 Blancos I like more. Overall, I like this one and would recommend it.
