nice nose sweet and okay palate

Omg. Drinking the Corazon Sazerac Rye anejo makes me ask where's the damn pastrami? Again, not my normal anejo, but holy hell. 45%. Really warming, rye toast. I'm buying every bottle on the shelf due to the fact it's not produced anymore. found it for $79.99, a decent price seeing what others paid. nose is Bens Deli with cooked agave sweetness to balance it out. carries in to the flavor, no mustard on this pastrami on rye but some pickle tang. great balance for what it is. I want rye toast right now, I don't care what's on it. not your traditionally made anejo, but it hits on all cylinders for what it wants to be. a really fun sipper for sure. I'm going back for more

2017 bottling. Vanilla, caramel, lots of pepper, whisky obviously but not as much as other expressions, alcohol heat but normal for the higher proof.

Very nice ripe agave nose. Vanilla, fudge, citrus. Light flavor of agave and bourbon. Interesting finish. The Sazerac barrel really delicately infuses it's flavor into the tequila. It's quite delicious with a slight bourbon taste. But also has a slight bit of sweetness and finishes with a hint of citrus and a touch of white pepper. Great sipping tequila.

Nosing this next to a pour of Sazerac Rye made it very easy to pick those same elements out in this anejo. It also helps reveal the elements that make this tequila and a very good one. Flinty, minty comes to mind with flinty notes being the minerality of the blanco aged to anejo and the minty notes from the rye barrel. The main drawback is simply price, a little high for a niche product.

Very interesting spice aroma with underlying fruit. None of the strong whiskey aroma from the Stagg or RVW. Wow, rich, complex spice flavor and no real hints of whiskey. To my taste, the clear winner (by a mile) of the 3 añejos. Medium-long finish with rich spice and warmth.

Wonderful nose on this, and the finish is elegantly spicy. Fun!

Corazon Anjeo, Sazerac (2024) is a gem. The 90-proof packs a lot charm and one heck of a finish. Nose: Delicate strawberry fruits with a light honey-vanilla sweetness that is overtaken by the presence of mild whiskey soaked oak. Traces of raw pecan, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg and white pepper spice. Taste: Mild oiliness and a big hit of rye spice on the initial draw. The roasted agave is there, too. Oak, nutmeg a light smoky char, and natural vanilla rise up in the mid palate. Love the punch of that high proof. Wow. Very nice. Finish: Maybe the best finish of any Anjeo I've had. The rye and agave blend very nicely together for an exciting, long carry. Excellent. A $100+ experience for a $80. You really can't go wrong with this expression.

Fantastic nose, strong cooked agave, fruity, butterscotch, oaky, smokey, mineral, vanilla! Does have a lactic/medicine flavor on the backend!

Pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this one. The flavor is sweet with a lot of the barrel coming through but the heat in the finish is the kicker that put it over the edge (in a good way) for me.

I like this whole lineup as i own 2 bottles of the sazerac 18 yr . rye . this one i liked a tad bit more then the other 2 expression i have . great experiment..

Nice anejo, the rye finish adds some depth and spiciness I enjoy

A delicious tequila when you fancy something toned down (I'm avoiding saying smooth, oops gone done it now). It's tasty but don't expect to it to be full of agave.

Tasted at Winter Drams event in Seattle in Jan 2017. Sight scent. Almost elusive nose. Sweet honey on the front with noticeable alcohol quickly following. A little sharp.

Light hints of oak in the nose. No initial burn at all, very smooth going down...traces of the rye on the tip of the tongue. Leaves a great flavor and nice coating in the mouth.

Interesting twist on this tequila. The various barrels nearly turn it into something totally different. Excellent craftmanship. However, for the tequila purist, this is more of a whiskey, due to the aging and barrel treatments...

Blind taste tested. Sweet vanilla, caramel, high test nose with winey, scotch undertones. Light straw color with a medium body. Tastes of Agave sugar and again with the scotch undertones. A lot of heat throughout with a fiery white pepper finish. Very dry but the complexity points it out an an Anejo. Now that I know what it is, I really enjoyed this uncharted rye whiskey barreling. 90 proof And no wonder we call it quits after a glass full of this one.
