El Viejito Plata 42% Now this is my kind of blanco. Big agave character, a little heat, black pepper and citrus, with a nice earthy sweetness underneath. The extra proof gives it more punch and texture without taking away from the agave. It feels rustic, honest and full of personality. Not trying to be delicate or fancy—and honestly, that’s exactly what I like about it.

The 42% is a nice sipper! Cooked agave and pepper with some minerals.

not sure of the lote for this because it was from a sample sent to me. I'm curious to know if this is a newer lote than some others here rated because I am not loving this as much as the reviews I'm seeing. it's just not my favorite profile... getting jalepeno, pepper, alcohol forward, some raw agave. as I let it sit and open, some sweetness comes through on the palate, a strange flavor i cannot quite identify = dragonfruit? finish is a bit bitter

An interesting nose that is bold and fruity. It does have a strong agave aroma. Vegetal notes and earthiness. On the tongue it has sweet agave and vegetal tastes. A little black pepper. It is buttery and has a mild taste of honey. Nice finish with a light viscosity. This is a good tequila that I would recommend.

Nose: Bold. Ripe fruit notes and warm baking spices. Rich agave aromas. A melon aroma. Flavors: Creamy agave sweetness, almost honey like. Perfect pepper counterpoint to the buttery sweet notes. A coffee note. A bit rustic. At 42% ABV, and chocked full of flavor, this is a blanco to put on your radar. It is priced economically and is made traditionally by a good distillery. A good sipper for seasoned aficionados and would shine in mixed drinks.

Has an interesting aroma, cooked agave, jalapeño, vegetal, a hint of lactic, and black pepper. Flavor is sweet cooked agave, slightly earthy, and there’s a pleasant sweetness on the finish.

I opened the bottle a week ago and have had a couple pours, but I wanted it to rest before review. The initial bottle pop left me with nothing. Plus I just came off a big steak dinner so I wanted my review to be fair. Nose: has a slight funk, vegetal , a nice bright well water brine, little cinnamon. Nice Mouth: sharp but silky coat, a little heat, very clean . There is no overwhelming forward flavor that jumps off the page, medium linger, cinnamon, maybe a touch of lime/ lemon zest , this is a very easy sipper. But doesn’t leave you with any wow factor. I could drink it all day no problem. I also made a Paloma with it to see how it mixes : Ok in a cocktail this is where it shines. My Paloma is outstanding.

Nothing at all wrong with this blanco! A little thin in the glass & mouth. Cooked agave, earthiness, vegetal, grass & herbal aromas. Similar flavors w/ tons of agave and slight pepper. Mild medium finish. Nothing off with this tequila. Super value @ $29 from Pkgd Group.

Nice fresh aroma, fresh agave, and peppery with a hint of citrus. Smooth with a little heat complimented by sweet citrus flavors. One of the best high proof Blanco's I've tasted...can't beat the price point of $30ish.

Aroma is amazing. It is subtle yet complex with notes of citrus, raw agave and minerality. Flavor is raw agave and black pepper, which I expected at a slightly higher proof. Finish is long with notes of raw agave and black pepper. Overall this is a great sipper any day of the week.

Aroma - cooked agave, mild hint of herbal notes that remind me of “Tierra del rancho”… Flavor - A little Spicy upfront followed by the strong flavor of sweet cooked agave.

Fresh cut grass and vegetal aromas. Crisp sweet and minty taste on the palate that lingers for a bit.

LOTE T/B 251023/TV, recent bottling, tasted on 2-26-24. Aroma: raw agave, briny, green vegetal note, alcohol sensation is medium to medium high, after 20 minutes in the glass the agave note becomes slightly sweet. Slightly herbaceous. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, alcohol sensation is medium high on the palate, light black pepper, ends dry. Finish is medium to long, briny raw agave, green vegetal & light black pepper note persists.
