This is a Blind Tasting. I detect a floral / herbal scent and light toasted agave on the nose. The taste is smooth, fruity, citrusy, and earthy finishing with a hint of butterscotch. This is a little harsh as a sipper, but could make an excellent cocktail. I taste a woodyness, maybe oak on the finish?
In the nose- vanilla and alcohol smell. In the palate- vanilla with a touch of citrus/orange. Not too strong. Can taste the barrel. Leaves a fresh taste in your mouth like minty.
Blind tasted in a Glencairn glass with another repo. First taste was after a fresh pour (sitting 1-2 min), then retasted after letting it sit 20 min or so. Overall impressions: Light straw color, medium mouthfeel, pleasant nose with nice rounded roasted agave. Agave forward. Aroma: agave dominant, dill, wet grass. Developed a nice scent of cut wood after sitting 20 min. Taste: sweet agave, vegetal, and herbal, slightly bitter, mild alcohol Finish: consistent and even agave flavor, slight, pleasant alcohol burn
R1. Blind Aroma is ok with some light buttery notes and agave. Taste is rather bland and nothing stands out. Meh. Finish is a little bitter. This is a ok to good ATF. Very light body.
Vanilla is the dominant aroma in the taste rings the vanilla out more and introduces a richness and sweet bread. The mouth feel is lovely and it lingered nicely.
A favorite from the lineup from Campo Azul, more nose and flavor pops out than the 40%abv. Highly recommend for a good price HP tequila.
The most reliable agave awards, with blind judging, praised these tequilas.
While aficionados tend to prefer blanco tequilas, and imbibers of dark spirits usually gravitate towards añejos, the reposado category is often overlooked.
This review is from a AMM blind tasting. Aroma: I get some cooked agave up front with a bit of oak, some pepper, cinnamon & spices Flavor: I pretty much get all the same as aromas with the agave upfront but some orange/citrus, fruit, minty and alcohol present. Finish: it's a good very light Reposado, has good aroma and flavor but very short quick finish, nothing complex or off putting. Revisited this and still enjoy this, I would recommend this for a nice easy sipper or for cocktails.
