The nose on this one is amazing and the taste is a great funk with a grape flavor one of my top high proof tequilas!

Cask Strength | Apricot, toasted caramel, leather, clove. The overproof delivers a nice finish. This one is a blend of 3, 4, and 5 yr XAs bottled at 88.8 proof cask strength. Very good.

Nose: Fresh agave leads with a light touch of vanilla and honeysuckle. There’s a gentle vegetal edge and a soft buttermilk note that brings some creaminess. White pepper and minerality sit just behind it, keeping things crisp and clean. Palate & Mouthfeel: Agave and white pepper show first, joined by that malolactic funk and buttermilk from the nose. The pepper builds steadily as bitter citrus pith adds bite and balance. Vegetal tones stay present, with a faint vanilla rounding things out. Finish: Slightly bitter with grapefruit pith and white pepper that hangs on. The agave remains steady through the finish, giving it a dry, peppery close. Final Thoughts: If you enjoy a bit of funk, this one stands out. It’s distinctive, well priced, and easy to appreciate once you settle into its mix of cream, pepper, and citrus. I like it a lot.

First of all, I am a huge Chamucos fan. I especially love the Diablo at 55 ABV. The Anejo is also a big time favorite of mine. That is why I needed to add the XA to my collection. I bought this from Roadrunner Spirits. This is a new kit that comes in at 44.4 ABV. This is Fuerte my friends and you know I love that! The nose is just crazy good. So sweet with agave, fruit (especially plum), leather, there is cinnamon and vanilla. This nose is so complex there is no telling what you may pull from it. On the palate, the first thing is sweetness. It has a bit of that funkiness but nothing like the diablo. I get sweet potatoes, plum, vanilla and cinnamon. I am also pulling radon and leather. This is a bit pricey but not for an XA. I love it!

Nose: Cooked agave leads the way, backed by a hit of olive brine and a sharp, unmistakable blue cheese funk. There’s a fresh herbal quality underneath it all, with a squeeze of lemon that cuts through the richness and keeps it lively. Palate & Mouthfeel: Thin and a little slick, but the flavor comes through clean. Sweet agave up front, followed by black pepper and that same savory funk - blue cheese again, but more integrated here. There’s a briny salinity running through it that ties everything together without overwhelming the balance. Finish: Lingering spicy black pepper with a clean, crisp exit. It doesn’t overstay its welcome, but it leaves a strong impression. Final Thoughts: The funk on this one may not be for everyone, but it’s absolutely for me. It’s bold, different, and unique in a way that earns its permanent spot on my shelf.
