NOM 1646 | 1646 A bright, clean, and very well-made blanco that puts cooked agave front and center. On the nose I get plenty of roasted agave, followed by fresh lime, grapefruit, earthy notes, fresh-cut grass, and just a crack of white pepper. The palate is layered with sweet cooked agave, lime zest, wet stone minerality, and an herbal character that reminds me of mint and rosemary. The finish is clean, crisp, and well-balanced with building black pepper, lingering citrus, and a light briny salinity that keeps you coming back for another sip. This is an easy sipper with good complexity, great agave character, and a production process that really shows in the glass.

NOM 1646 | Aroma is cooked and raw agave, black pepper, lime citrus, vegetal green notes from the raw agave. Flavor is cooked agave, honey, citrus, minerality, vegetal notes like asparagus. I think this is a solid blanco option and a bottle that can really bridge the gap for people coming over to better quality tequila from mass produced brands. I also like that all the flavors are very present but it doesn’t overwhelm the senses which jus furthers the idea that this is a great bottle for folks looking to try some good stuff and have a nice looking bottle on the bar at home.

NOM 1646 | Aroma blue agave sweet, mellow. Paladar mint, agave, sacarina, earth. Finish strong with hints of sour agave.

NOM 1480 | Rated Blind: N: kettle corn, light cooked agave I: cohesive taste

NOM 1646 | AMM blind: I really like the aroma, which is briny/olives and grass. Taste is similar and also has some floral/sweetness. Finish has a slight bitter punch, but is overall nice.

NOM 1480 | AMM Blind Tasting: Aroma: a little funk to it maybe some mushroom hints some olive brine and green veg. Palate: herbal some honey cooked agave citrus with a little pepper. Finish: lengthy some decent burn. Nothing overly remarkable. Scored well on value.

NOM 1646 | Rated blind with AMM: Earthy, vegetal, grassy, with jalapeño. Descent finish, but a little too green for my taste.

Not great but not bad either. Overly sweet for my liking. Nose: lots a vanilla, agave but mostly raw agave, citrus, and earth. Palate: same as the nose. Lots of vanilla, raw agave, citrus, and earth. Lots of vanilla sweetness is the main standout here. For the price point there are others I would reach for over this one.

tried new NOM 1646 tmm blinds oct 2025 rated 77, lowest of all 10 expressions in the blinds and points deducted for cost $60 tasted a sample at NW Liquor 12/22/23 it was decent, no wow factor. but i didn't realize the price was $65 USD. too high priced for this tequila, in my opinion. if u want a better 1480 expression at a reasonable price, I recommend Aldez for $20 less

NOM 1480 | Regular average tequila. I’d drink it over don julio any day.

NOM 1646 | Aroma: Pepper, agave floral, olive brine, citrus, earth and anise. Taste: there is light cooked agave up front, but there’s a combination a sweet floral note and olive brine that quickly takes over. Finish: The floral note lasts with some mineral and green grasss/herbal notes in the finish. I think many people would probably enjoy it, could be a great introductory bottle. For me, the taste profile is not my favorite so it’s just around average value for me at $49.99

Super lactic, strawberry milk on the nose (after sitting) nuttiness on the finish. Vanillin. Plus the typical blanco notes. Good amount of agave flavor.

Slight smoke, some spice and earth. Good finish.

Nose: pretty light in the nose! vanilla, light agave and citrus. Palate: Vanilla, citrus, earthy, and a bit of agave. Tastes like it has additives.. Finish: short! Overall, I wouldn’t buy or recommend to a friend… there’s so many other better options! Free pour from a local liquor store!

40% abv., LOTE03BDM, acquired recently, tasted on 5-1-24. Aroma: light acidity, hint of citrus, mineral/light metallic aroma, hint of fruitiness, hint of cooked agave aroma, hint of earthiness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, rounded edges, smooth. The sweetness on the nose and palate doesn’t seem 100% natural. Finish is medium to medium long, light acidity, hint of citrus, hint of fruity sweetness, hint of herbal aromas persist.

not a bad tequila with light notes citrus, little nose and really not much complexity with taste unless you like earth and big vegetal. My biggest negativity is this Tequila is way overpriced and nowhere near the quality of others at this price point. this really knocked down the rating.

Soft nose. Earthy, brine, green olive. Sweet and warm. Nice finish.

NOM1480. Casa Azul Blanco ($65 USD) offers nothing in the way of Aroma, Taste, or Finish. On a slight positive note, there is nothing offensive. I'm left perplexed as where this fits in the world of tequillas. Perhaps the uninitiated will enjoy the lack of character, but it is a huge miss for me at its price point.

Incredible agave expression, vegetal and pepper notes, smooth finish

Earthy, funky nose from the natural yeasts. Smells like a winter batch with those lactic aromas. Herbal and rocky tequila. Won't get lost in a margarita or cantarita.
