By far my favorite from the Mundial line up. Great balance between agave and bourbon notes! So easy to drink!

My favorite of the Mundial lineup. Just wish it wasn’t so pricey.

An outstanding Reposado. I was surprised to find the barrel characteristics of the toasted Basil Hayden cask to be on full display. I found notes of marshmallow, pecan, salted caramel, cooked agave, floral notes, citrus, and pepper. A full bodied, rounded profile that really worked for me with the toasted barrel incorporating interesting flavors without overtaking the agave base.

My favorite of the Mundial collection. Great nose, vanilla bean, caramel, cooked agave, the flavor profile is cinnamon, honey, a little floral. A beautiful Reposado. A little pricey though.

Nose is nice and sweet agave Beautiful barrel notes. Vanilla,caramel, dried fruits, chocolate and light whiskey. On the palate, still getting the agave. More whiskey notes, caramel, pepper, vanilla molasses, coffee and chocolate. Good finish with lingering whiskey notes. Basil Hayden comes through. This is a very good sipper that is going to be nice on cold winter nights.

In the aroma, cooked agave, caramel, and vanilla lead the way with layered cinnamon and oak underneath. It’s rich, balanced, and incredibly inviting with a bourbon-like sweetness that really opens up in the glass. On the palate, the caramel, cooked agave, oak, and cinnamon carry through beautifully. There’s a noticeable whiskey influence from the barrel, but it still keeps the tequila character front and center. The finish is long, peppery, and lingering with oak spice and warm cinnamon hanging on well after the sip.

Edition No. 3 - Excellent reposado. Nice barrel influence on both nose and taste. Nice oily mouthfeel and medium long finish. Points added since I picked this up locally at a bargain of a price.

While I love most everything that ET produces, IMHO these Mundial expressions are a bad marriage. By definition I am more of a purist; I want my tequila to taste like tequila. I want to taste sweet cooked agave, not bourbon, not sherry, not wine. I do like a nice XA that was rested in oak barrels however. Which is why I always hunt for classic old dusties; tequila made before all of the producers started getting gimmicky. Thus if you’re like me and can’t stand bourbon, you will not like this. Pretty obvious that ET is trying to convert bourbon drinkers. That, I understand. Just not for me.

Nicest nose of all the mundials.

Nose is real soft…. A bit dusty and mildly sweet with a summer fruit profile (peach, pear). Pale straw color in the glass with nice tear adhesion. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Naturally sweet on the palsy with a cinnamon-spice tingle. Finish is a bit oily, with a lingering cinnamon-spice. Really nice repo.

This is amazing… aromas of caramel cinnamon vanilla and oak. On the palate it’s amazing. Oakiness caramel pepper earthiness and white pepper.::so good.

At an average of 165 bucks my question is: Do they want people to buy it? It’s a repo at 40abv in basil Hayden barrels! There’s repo single barrels at higher abv that use the same barrels at half the price .

Best as an after dinner sipper

Excellent tequila and brand but the $200 price tag for this prevents it from being above a 90.

Aroma: (22) Vanilla and caramel and a hint of oak Taste: (27) Bourbon oak, vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon Finish: (22) A great well balanced lingering sweet finish. Hangs around until the next sip. Overall: (88) Value (7). $82 from Remedy. Great Reposado aged in basil hayden. I’d still would pick the single barrel repo over this.

Sweet aroma. Very smooth and buttery. Sweet at first and develops a nice spice with a really long finish.

El Tesoro reposado Mundial Collection: Basil Hayden, 40% abv., LOTRMBHT-01, bottled on 08/07/2024, tasted on 9-17-24. Color: yellow to slightly dark yellow. Aroma: cooked agave with light sweetness, light acidity, citrus, light earthiness, slightly minty which helps to maintain this tequila fresh, light resinous sweetness, after 15 minutes in the glass fresh wood notes emerge and gets more intense as time goes by, masking some aromas. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, medium to full bodied, ethanol sensation is medium to medium high maybe due to slightly dominating fresh wood note. Finish is medium to long, light cooked agave with hint of sweetness, hint of vanilla and cinnamon, hint of fruitiness with slightly dominating fresh wood note persists.
