“Visual: clear Nose: lots of agave, humid clay or wet cement , sage Palate: vibrant agave, medium thickness, salty brine, herbal notes. Some say citrus but I don’t think it’s there since it’s much more earthy than fruity. Some ethanol burn and it’s mostly a downside. Maybe it’s going to ease off with time. Finish: long on the warmth, brine /olive oil, agave and persistent on the wet cement . This review is based on a freshly opened bottle— probably will review again in a couple of weeks. Nice blanco sipper a bit warm and thin to my taste but great potential in aroma complexity. A bit pricey but it’s limited and a great find. ”

“Visual: light gold Nose: wood notes overpower agave even if it’s still there vanilla and sweet tobacco Tasting: mild everything… light mouthfeel light agave, light caramel/vanilla but some cigar box and leather. Not much going on. Sweet agave in the backend. Finish : spiky alcoholic finish with toothpicks and toffee. Overall not a bad bottle but not as good as I thought for the price I paid . It’s sweet and woody but not much complexity going on . It does not evolve in the glass nor will it open after time. It just looses aroma as it faint through time. Will probably pass next time I shop for an anejo for something more robust. ”

“Visual: clear and thin Nose: cocked agave, alcohol, clay and brine Taste: medium to light viscosity, agave hits first and then some minerality and alcohol taste like acetone or varnish. Meh Finish: agave, brine, varnish… it’s the alcohol burn lasts not the aromas Bought at the SAQ (Qc Canada) as a special order. Bottle has a wooden cap instead of the tahona and the shape of the bottle is shorter. Batch no B-026 If this is legit, it’s pretty bad stuff for the reputation they have. There is better tequila at a lower price point than this. Will not buy again.”

“Visual: light gold Nose: pungeant yeasty cooked agave, sweet caramel au beurre, mellow wood notes. Smells rich Taste: cooked agave, sweet and mild wood notes. Still a bit spiky. Texture is medium light. Has some lactic fermentation notes that could feel a bit cheesy — like Cooked Cheese cake. Finish: medium with a slight warmth - we get the agave and the lactic funk mostly left This bottle was opened 8 months ago … not really knowing what to think about it… not I revisited the last pour and my opinion is still about the same even if my palate seems to like it more as I write those lines. It’s good stuff for sure but it’s again this cheese cake funk that sets it apart. Is it nice ? It’s different in a way and it not a bad think at all. It’s definitely a sipper. ”

“Visual; clear and coats the glass with long legs Nose: very agave forward , sweet agave, anise and cinnamon, a bit of yeast and herbal grass notes Taste: very nice mouth feel, soft sweet agave some citrusy and salty brine complex with little to no heat for the abv. Finish: finish is medium with nice coating of briny agave — pleasing Definitely a good value on this high proof blanco! Mouthfeel is incredibly nice. Would buy again and stock up !!”

“Visual: more amber than straw, brownish gold Nose: agave, wood like sawdust, some acidic notes and alcohol Taste: agave and something like varnish or paint, citrus or some citric acid like sour candy without the sugar. Very ruff and thin. Acid rain, rotten meat Finish: agave , varnish or paint thinner, hot and thin mouthfeel. Pretty horrible This is a big pass for me even in a mixed drink. It’s comparable to Jose Cuervo and other low grade tequila. I have no idea how they managed to claim to work in copper still pot and be proud of this juice. ”

“Visual: light straw thick legs Nose: cooked agave dried fruits (cherries, figs) clay caramel melted butter Palate : silky smooth texture with dominant agave, dried fruits, vanilla beans. Mild alcohol burn on gums but swallows like butter. Sherry cask really shines as it’s bright and tight elegance. Finish is long lasting with enough fragrance of agave, salty brine, oak and tobacco (cigar box). This tequila is to me as enjoyable as a fine Anejo. Incredible mouthfeel and complexity. Agave presence is all over the place and the cask aging gives it a mature, refined twist different from other reposado. Under rated…A definite rebuy !! ”

“Visual: clear , nice thick legs Nose: agave bomb ! Smells sweet cooked agave with some herbal notes of sage and brine. Very pungent Taste : ample and lush agave at first and truthfull to the nose with the herbal notes. Salty brine and a bit of anise goes next. Easy on the tongue as all flavours coat nicely Finish: nice and long finish on the brine and herbs. Little heat that fades away and leaves place to long aroma reminiscent of the nose feel. Overall very very smooth and silky. Not very complex as it’s straight forward on the agave , herbals and brine. Very well done product as always with Lost Lore. ”

El Tesoro Tequila Reposado

“Visual: light straw color Nose: right away barrel notes takes the lead followed by ethanol and cooked agave. Burnt caramel /brown sugar and tobacco (cigar box). Not much going on as it’s quite faint. Tasting: mouth feel is good, medium thick to thin and pretty smooth with some little bite on the tongue. Barrel notes are overpowering the agave wich is not very nice. I feel it as acidic where it tickles my tongue. Not biter but not on the sweet side even if the nose tells you it is sugary. Vanilla, wood, little agave and maybe discrete anise. Finish : all flavors but the ones from cask goes away fast. Little heat in the back palate Overall this is still good quality as El Tesoro is legendary. Is this good ? Yes but for the price point you can get waaayyyy better tequila than that ! ”
