Tasted at Sip Tequila Fest I had been looking forward to trying this new release from Siempre. I can confidently say that I haven’t had a tequila profile quite like this one before. To start, this profile leans heavily into spices. An intense cinnamon is the predominant profile I latched onto while teasing out flavors from this unique high proof. In addition to cinnamon I found anise, black pepper, tumeric, cooked agave, and some earthy notes.
Nose - Agave, malolactic, minerals, earth, brine this has a big nose that continues to open the longer it sits.. Palate - Cooked agave, cinnamon, spice, anise and pepper. Finish - cooked agave, sweetness, cinnamon and pepper.
Phenomenal nose & pallet, cinnamon, anise, agave, citrus, herbal, all the bright notes you love & some slight funk in there too likely from the dead yeast. A nice body with legs, leaving a warm lingering finish. A wonderful treat for the senses, highly recommend grabbing a bottle if you see it.
Nose: sweet cooked agave / vanilla bomb / cinnamon bomb/ pepper / apple / pineapple / berries/ black tea / jasmine Taste: sweet agave bomb / vanilla / smooth cinnamon / pepper / apple / pineapple / cherry / lime / anise / black tea / minerals Finish: medium viscosity mouthfeel with a nice lingering pepper and cinnamon punch that holds on to become an agave and vanilla bomb. Hints of black tea, anise, and cherry/berry, and the smooth pepper note fight for dominance with the cinnamon and vanilla for control of the last taste on the swallow. Muerto is a power packed high proof that has some serious art in its soul. It’s definitely the opposite of VIVO…you couldn’t blind the two to see which one Sergio and Alex got right…they are absolutely night and day difference…alive and dead if you will. Muerto has front punch, uppercuts, body shots, jabs, and roundhouse punches all at the same time. There’s definitely balance if you consider balance being knocked to the left with a hard agave/vanilla hit only to be knocked the other direction with pepper and cinnamon…like your a pinata and loving every minute of it. Muerto is just absolute power in it’s many tastes that are all so well. If it lacks anything its the harmony of all those flavors. But to hell with harmony…give me a rock band to blast my ears off any day!!!
Vessel: Rona Flute Nose: Apricot, Smoke, Yeast, Mango Palate: Jalapeño, Mango, Smoke, Stonefruit Finish: Peach, Floral, Jalapeño
Impressed! Just a little smoky and earthy, lots of flavor, good stuff. Had a small pour and will need to revisit for full notes.
Notes coming soon
I was fortunate to he able to try this a couple of times this year, 2024, at the distillery - once in April and once in November. This high-proof is special. Sergio Cruz and the crew at Vivanco keep hitting it out of the park with their high-proof tequilas, and Muerto is one of the best I've had recently. Sweet cooked agave, fruit, mint, anise, pepper, well balanced and muy delicioso!
One of the best new high proof blanco’s to be released in a year of high proof tequilas. Sweet cooked agave, light pepper and spice, anise with light earthy notes. This one is a banger. Salud
Another banger from 1414! Nose: some smoke/no funk/mint/agave/anise/minerals/ didn’t get a heavy presence of water (no alcohol kick either. Where the funk was with Vivo, now there’s agave! Palate: Serious punch of agave, sweetness, butter and relaxed black pepper combined with. a little spicy jalapeño pepper. Beautifully done.
Sweet fruits and berries lively cooked agave. On the palate it is sweet agave, peppermint anise, a bit of earthiness. Very bright. This is more hard rock than Mozart. It is delicious in every way but so different than Vivo but both are so excellent.
Nose: lavender, white pepper, cooked agave, petrichor, hay and citrus. Coats the mouth so nicely, almost velvety. Taste : I am immediately hit hard with chili pepper & cooked agave. Gives way to a buttery mineral salinity with warm and floral cinnamon notes with citrus lingering in the background. A beautiful finish with the same notes as above hanging around for a long while and leaving my tongue tingling in the best way possible.
Agave swap Nose: cooked agave, cherry, lime, funk, cinnamon Taste: cooked agave, black pepper, citrus Finish: cherry, anise, black pepper, funk, cinnamon
54.5% abv., lote: SEMBCO2492, bottled on 12/08/24, tasted on 3-21-25. Gracias Don Sergio por compartir este elixir conmigo! Aroma: cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light acidity, hint of agave fiber aroma, light green vegetal notes, light anise, light earthiness, after more than 1 hour in the glass the cooked agave notes becomes sweeter, light citrus, hint of fruitiness. Fresh and crisp! Palate: confirms aromas perceived, cooked agave sweetness and fruitiness is more pronounced on the palate, slightly spicy, good sweet sour and citrus balance. Finish is long, light sweet cooked agave, light anise, light green vegetal notes, hint of fruitiness with light earthiness persists. I guess that the prolonged fermentation that allowed most or all of the yeast to die also allowed more if not all sugars to be transformed into alcohol which created an organoleptic "vivo" tequila! Wow! 1,400th rating.
One of the best blancos that I’ve tasted. Tasted at the distillery 1414 with the maestro himself Sergio Cruz.
Nose: rich agave aromas, with hints of vanilla, oak, and slight earthiness. Palate: smooth, full-bodied agave flavor, slight caramel, and peppery spice, finishing with a clean, warming aftertaste.
Tasted very charcoaly to me. Looked forward to drinking this from reviews, maybe I had a bad bottle… but the taste seemed a bit manufactured. A semblance of charcoal and other filters. Will use this for margaritas.
agave Earthy mineral 'nilla lime peel with a note of coal agave black pepper mineral with a fiberous citrus note
Absolutely crazy unique tequila. A flavor rollercoaster. Has cooked agave and vegetal smells. Taste blows up into jalapeño, citrus, cinnamon, and agave. Nice tingly finish. A Sergio Cruz classic. On second and third drinks- has strong chipotle notes now. Absolutely incredible. One of the best tequilas ever made.
Aroma: Cooked agave, black pepper, citrus, hint of cinnamon. Taste: Cooked agave, black pepper, citrus, & cinnamon Finish: Very balanced and lingering notes of agave, black pepper, citrus, & cinnamon $115 at Old Town Tequila. This is now one of my top 5 favorite High Proof. Is dead better than a alive? I will be doing a blind of Siempre Vivo & Siempre Mureto.
On the nose I picked up some pine or juniper, agave and some citrus Taste I also got the pine. The sweetness was nice and the cooked agave was there as well. I really like this one
On the nose I get tang and citrus On the palate I get vanilla and orange creamsicle Sergio Cruz you out did yourself on this one!
On a fresh crack, on the nose, got a touch of smoke followed by candied greens and green Jolly Ranchers. The taste had bitter pine, jalapeno, and a funk note that Vivo had. With more pours, I got more citrus on nose and some vegetalness on taste. Didn't love the profile of the lingering bitterness. Price point relative to initial experience brought the score down for me. Will need to revisit as it opens up more.
Aromas se siente bastante la canela, se siente frutoso como manzana y uvas se siente ahumado y picoso en el paladar se siente frutoso como a manzana, ahumado y pimienta pero el bajar se siente suave

Nice earthy nose and pepper palate. This is good. I like it better than Vivo but both are solid
