CULTURA 100 Blanco 45%ABV Samples provided by Agave Swappers Matt Cavanaugh and Christine Hansen Barchasch. Nose: Alcohol is the first thing rising from the chimney of the glass then cooked agave and white pepper notes with some citrus. In all honesty for me the ABV is hiding a lot of the prominent aroma I normally get, they are there but it has to open up for 30 to 45 minutes before it really comes out of hiding! Taste: the palate, sweet cooked agave. Not overly sweet but a balanced sweet, reminiscent of tasting the cooked agave pieces you get at the distillery. The citrus comes through but is very light. It has an earthy and slight herbal note with a touch of white pepper. The mouthfeel is quite pleasant and the tequila seems to coat palate with a nice warming heat. This changes quite a bit as it sits and opens up. Finish: The finish is balanced and has a long finish.
Aroma is agave and heavy black pepper. Minerality comes out the longer it sits. More Pepper and agave in the sip with mild but quite present vegetal notes. The finish is expectedly spicy with a bit sharper veg note of green bell pepper. Thank you Matt and Agave Swappers for this sample.
Sample provided by Agave Swappers and the GOAT Keith Bogart Aromas: textbook 1414 nose. All the great minerality, Cooked agave sweetness, pepper, floral Pallet: it matches! Classic 1414 flavor. 54% goes down easy. Minerality, cooked agave, pepper, sugar, so much flavor, Final thoughts: this is my favorite cultura 100 expression to date. It’s all the goodness from Sergio Cruz that you want. It hits all the notes! I’m excited to buy a bottle of this one! Feels like a big next step for this new brand.
Nice clean agave nose but subtle and doesn’t nose like a HP, very easy to nose. Immediate warmth on the palate and creamy. Nice long pepper finish that tells you this is a HP. The finish goes on for a while. I like it. Sample provided by Agave Swappers for review
Sample received from Agave Swappers Nose: Minerality shows up immediately, dry and stony, followed closely by cooked agave. There’s a clear vegetal note that keeps things fresh, with cooling mint and a bright citrus presence. Ethanol is noticeable but doesn’t dominate, sitting alongside the aromas rather than blowing them out. Palate & Mouthfeel: The texture is on the lighter side, reading slightly watery but still cohesive. Sweet agave leads, quickly joined by mineral notes and citrus that tighten into lime. Mint carries through from the nose, and a restrained chili pepper heat builds gradually, adding contrast without taking over. Finish: Pepper hangs on through the finish, joined by a saline sweetness that comes across as saltwater taffy. It tapers cleanly, leaving a savory impression rather than lingering heat. Final Thoughts: Stellar for the value. This is a strong high-proof showing that delivers clarity, agave presence, and character without excess. A great HP that knows exactly what it is.
Sample generously provided by Keith Bogart and Matt Cavanaugh. I warmed up the palate with Siembra Azul Blanco batch 14 (one of my favorites). Wanted to keep the 1414 family in mind as I tried the new kid on the block. Nose: Enticing floral notes with minerals, agave and anise on the first attempt. Mint notes and lime rind on the second nosing. Pleasant! A hint of vanilla too. Interesting. Palate: Juicy agave with a full mouth feel. Some very light black pepper with a nice splash of minerals. Not too punchy for an HP but very flavorful. First sip enjoyable, as was the second. Finish: Surprised how easy it is to sip! Agave lingers on the tongue and pepper softy faints on the gums. I hear the price is more than reasonable, especially for an HP. I will purchase my own bottle, or 2. Delicious.
