The French oak giving off a delicious sweetness, dried fruit, prunes, cherries, a little vanilla, smoke, pepper, roasted nuts, light chocolate. Taste of oak, fruit, butterscotch, really sweet but clean, caramel, light chocolate, and roasted nuts. For the price.... a steal.
Pale amber color with strong oak sweetness in the aroma along with sweet fruit (apple, cherry). Initial flavor is dominated by fruity sweetness rather than typical oaky chocolate or caramel. Very mild black pepper bite but flavor remains dominated by sweetness. The finish is relatively short. This XA is aged for 85 months so the price of $110 is pretty reasonable. But, there is really no complexity to the flavor. So, definitely something to try but not one I’d put in regular rotation. 12-24-2019 7th Annual Xmas XA tasting
I had hoped to like this more but I think it suffers from a sameness to other dry to the taste XA product in the market. It certainly isn't bad nor suffer from production flaws but has nothing other than the dryness that stands out. Thanks MB
Pour this for any bourbon lovers in your life ASAP, it’s legit delicious in a whisky way!! Tons of cinnamon and sweet(red heart candies), makes you want to go back for more.
Dried, pitted fruit (peach, apricot) flavors, smokey wood, and dry finish. Enjoy the fruit but a little too dry for my personal taste.
Very barrel forward, smoky.
Nose: Dried fruit ( almost fruitcake aromas), vanilla, spices, leather, tropical fruit, cherry, agave presence with some oak. A very round and balanced feel to it. Some earthiness. Flavors are coming in with anise and dried fruits. Fresh peach and apricot. Pleasing oily mouth feel with a lot going on. Toasted nuts, vanilla cream, and medium hot barrel spices, with cardamom dominating. A touch of French oak. Finishes with pretty good balance. Enough pepper and heat to counter the sweet aspects. A final hint of smoke?
One of the smoothest tequilas I’ve had.
Heavy on the pepper and smoke notes. Starts off smooth and strong. Finishes a little too bold. The aftertaste isn’t as good. Will enjoy on occasion, but not my go to.
even better than they Anejo. not as sweet (surprisingly), more oak flavors: pepper, caramel, some vanilla. similar to 4 Copas Anejo, but more caramel and vanilla and a little sweeter. made in French oak & stainless steel. I think I might prefer the French oak vs American oak.
The nose on this one is nice and unique. The taste and finish really drive this one home. It’s great especially seeing the price for this now. Sadly at the new price of $174 I would look elsewhere. Paid - $129 + $1.50 shipping (March 2024)
Smooth, sweet, caramel, fruity, cherry, vanilla
butterscotch, fricken yum
Strong barrel notes. On the nose, lots of vanilla, caramel, oak. Not much in the way of agave. Decent flavor but barrel leads the way on this one.
Super well priced XA. My favorite in the whole lineup, great agave presence with that combination of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon (not fake).
Incredibly smooth. Caramel flavors. Leaves a tingling on the tongue. Very interesting flavor profile. The agave is smooth with lots of notes I can’t quite put my finger on but incredible. Smells like butter scotch and a hint on butter scotch. It makes you want to keep sipping it to experience all of the flavors
Lote: tnex002, bottled on 08-12-2016. Color: dark yellow, light brown. Aroma: caramel, light vanilla & wood notes, alcohol sensation is low, slightly minty, rounded aromas. Palate: light vanilla & wood notes, butterscotch, minty & fresh, eucalyptus. The minty & fresh sensation is probably the only characteristic that reminds me of agave. Finish is medium to long, butterscotch, light vanilla & wood notes persist.
Rich oaky taste, very smooth
Pepper Smoke Sweet
Sweet, peppery notes Smells good -smells very vanilla forward - fruity and candy like
silky smooth absolutely amazing finish, great anejo taste & pallet. very odd creamy texture with the silky smoothness of the body. priced too high but absolutely a great experience to enjoy.
Pepper, caramel
Mostly whiskey notes. Vanilla, caramel, and honey. Very good XA, but not in the traditional sense.
great for beginners
