Nose - agave, caramel. vanilla slight citrus Palate - very similar to nose, cooked. agave, vanilla, caramel, pepper but also a hint of cocoa, and toffee
Lovely fruity aroma with orange, oak, caramel, and cloves. Flavors of stewed apples, oranges, cinnamon, oak, and caramel. Finish has a lingering black pepper zing with a touch of smoky oak. It’s barrel forward but full of flavor. For under $50 this is approachable for dark añejo lovers.
NOM 1588. Lots of orange with oak, vanilla and carmel on the nose. I get tons of orange up front on the taste which is awesome. Followed up with agave, oak, cinnamon, other fruit notes and a slight pepper finish. Awesome value at 37.99 in IL.
NOM: 1588 Aromas: baking spices, toasted almonds, candied yams, oak, cedar, warm orange Flavor: orange notes, dried apple notes, Finish: sort of falls flat but does have a nice linger that reminds me of sweet potatoes. Great price at $50.
sweetness on the palate and nose
This is a great budget introduction from bourbon to tequila. Aromas and flavors are cooked agave, oak, cinnamon, fruits, cherry, chocolate, caramel. Full flavor anejo and at a great price, medium finish, nothing complex but great aromas and flavors.
Aroma: Honey/Oak/Carmel/Vanilla/Clove/Cinnamon, not getting much agave, mostly barrel notes. Mouthfeel: light to moderate thickness. Flavor: On the palate, its oak and smoke. Finish: butterscotch, molases, black pepper I preferred the reposado over this. The barrel notes seem to completely mute the agave.
Nose is what I call bright. Aromas of orange, oak, clove, cinnamon, cherry, plum, cigar, and fruits. Taste is very nice. Cinnamon, green apple, I pick up oak but the French oak is more prominent, all spice, orange marmalade, coconut, I get a bit of a rum note, agave, and pepper. Mouthfeel is a light viscosity. Finish is medium short with warm notes of spiced cider, barrel spice and hot honey
Tasted at QDJ with Charlie. The aroma and taste are excellent! This one is hands-down a lot better than the Reposado. The aroma has that same butterscotch, caramel notes. The taste is where this one shines. There’s some really good heat pepper and still some cooked agave. The sweetness is mellow and not overpowering. The Finish is good, keeping some good heat in the back of the throat.
I love the coconut profile I get from this anejo. makes a great Mai Tai. replace the rum with this el Mexicano anejo
Nose: oak, dried fruit, cherries, fig, apricot, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, and roasted nuts Flavor: barrel, vanilla, cinnamon, fruity, and pepper Finish: short, dry mouth feel, and peppery
Dark coppery hue. Nose: Recently hewn oak. Very fruit forward. Fresh berries, melon and cherry. Dried “fruitcake” favorites: citron, cherries, apricots, figs, raisins and English walnuts. Cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. Flavor: Black pepper, leather and vanilla. Kicky spice. A touch of almond on the exit. A straight forward Añejo. Not a lengthy finish nor a super complex tequila - but solid nonetheless.
39.99 for this añejo what a deal. I won’t rate it with price in mind as I think that’s foolish use in a rating as different people buy things at different prices and different markets have different prices. This is a blend of French and American oak on the aromas I get oak, the agave still present not over oaky, orange, apricots, dried fruit, caramel a bit, same notes on the palate whiskey notes nice easy to drink light bodied overall a solid añejo
I paid $45 all in for this. This is a slamming deal. The midpoint of this sip is a bit tricky, but the beginning and end are fantastic.
Nom # 1588 Aroma, was agave , vanilla , cinnamon, caramel , orange and notes of barrel spice. the balance of all the notes made for a very pleasant nose feel. Palate, initial sip was very smooth with an oily mouthfeel, flavors of cooked agave , sweet cinnamon , vanilla and a orange cream soda took the stage. The barrel oak came through balancing all on the palate. Finish, was long with a pleasant warmth, leaving behind the sweetness of vanilla and cinnamon. lastly a lingering of cooked agave with warmth was left behind to the end. Overall, at a price point of around 50.00 dollars this Añejo makes for a great sipper and or a wonderful mixer , the cooked agave takes center stage amongst the other well balanced notes.
Aroma: cooked agave, spices, oak, cinnamon, pepper, citrus, fruit, vanilla. Taste: vanilla, citrus, maple, coconut, mocha with a great balance between oak & agave. Finish: a nice long finish with good body of maple, vanilla, mocha. Overall: surprising balance of vanilla, mocha, coconut makes El Mexicano Anejo a nice after dinner sipper you can enjoy with a dessert. $90
What a perfect Anejo. Craft and small batch tequila producer. Smoky and Oaky with a ton of agave bite. So well balanced in every way. And a great value compared to other Anejos.
