Casa Noble Añejo
“Nose is oak-rich oily cognac. Bittersweet notes of burnt caramel, agave, wood, earth and leather, with a spicy woody finish. Unique and delicious.”

“Smells and tastes like a summer morning. Grassy, wet, piney, earthy. Big and velvety, full-on agave with a nice heat and a long green finish. This is great stuff.”

“Nose is a blast of earthy agave, vanilla, some citrus. Wonderfully big and full on the tongue. Giant wallop of agave, vanilla, citrus, some woody sourness. Finish is a 102 proof spicy fire with some burnt sugariness way in the back. Fantastic.”

“I'm re-reviewing. As others have noted, letting this open up really changes things. Creamy mineral, earthy agave. Very subtle chewy sweetness underneath. Great big finish. I keep reaching for this blanco. Suddenly it's delicious!”

“Great nose, sweet, with a touch of sourness. Taste is soft agave, cinnamon bun, and vanilla birthday cake with caramel pastry frosting. A little sweet. A bit of a bitter bite on the finish. Tasty, but not really for me.”

“Big nose of buttery caramel, very intense. Nice full mouthfeel, maybe a touch glyceriny. Taste of spearmint, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, some smoke. There is almost too much going on with this repo, like it's trying too hard. A good starter tequila.”

Don Julio 1942
“Considered by many to be the King of Tequilas. A beautiful nose: caramel, vanilla, toffee, fruit, brandy, and agave. Taste is a similar profile to the nose: mostly sweet notes with some agave peeking through. Pretty thin on the tongue, smooth yet nicely spicy with a warm finish. 1942 is a lovely, soft, very tasty tequila but there is no reason it should be this pricey. ”

Pasote Añejo
“It's both a touch richer in flavour, and also just a little mellower going down than the excellent repo. Still wonderfully spicy, full of agave, with some added notes of caramel and the lightest of oak. An A to the repo's A+.”

Olmeca Altos Plata
“Subtle sweet nose, light on the tongue, soft agave flavours on the mineral side. A not bad finish, a little fruity on the fade-out. I've come across some alcohol burn if it's not allowed to air out a bit. All in all a decent blanco but lacking in any personality to make it a go-to.”

El Tesoro Tequila Añejo
“This one needs to sit and open up a bit, but once it does, lovely aromas of agave and light fruit. Very nice on the tongue, uncomplicated flavours of agave and barrel notes, a little earthy, a touch sweet, and very spicy, with a great long finish. This is no snowflake anejo. As much as I love a lot of the New Wave of craft tequilas, you still want some beautiful old-style tequilas on your shelf. This anejo is a stand-out.”

“Nose is agave, light wood, vanilla, and soft smoky citrus. Mouthfeel is smooth and full. Buttery. Taste is sweet roasted agave giving way to a wonderful smoky oaky lenghthy finish. There's a very subtle sugary roundness underneath the spice that makes this a deliciously balanced drinking experience. Absolutely fantastic, like the rest of the Artenom line.”
