Tequila Volteo Reposado
“In my personal opinion the blanco has a lot more character I feel like the barrel took away from the robust agave flavors that I got. I mean it’s not bad but I can tell you it is buttery smooth and simple on the side of complexity. This would be a 1942 killer for those average consumers you want something that will go down easy. ”

“My favorite out of the five. I get agave and minerals on the nose but the palate gives the same fruit flavors in the finish like the Blanco but it’s a bit more amplified with a longer finish. Crisp fresh green apples, agave, minerals, white pepper and some type of candy. ”

Viuda de Martínez Extra Añejo
“This gives everything I love about XA’s, not too often you get agave with juice that’s been sitting in barrels for 40 months… FORTY months. Gate way drug for my whiskey friends for sure. Caramel, oak, chocolate, almonds,… just clean as well. They say it’s additive free and I believe it. I think is any expression this would be the one to get away with on. ”

“This is what I call a gate way drug for my friends. I feel like this is 65 oak 35 agave on the flavor. I get fruity flavors with it which a bit weird but after having the Blancos I can see why. It’s 50% American and 50% French oak. Not mad at it, I enjoyed. Love the mineral tones on this one, it’s also has a vanilla flavor that’s clean. ”

“Honestly, this came off as the most muted on the nose and palate of the five. Quick finish, slight mineral, not bad at all but I feel like it lacks character compared to the other expressions. ”

“The nose on this smelled clean, slightly herbaceous, little funk. Palate was herbal with a fruit finish. Nice overall, surprised me a bit. ”

Agua de México Tequila Añejo
“Probably my favorite of the three. Getting plenty agave and oak on the Anejo not sure why the repo sample that I got seemed a bit stronger in a sense of oak to agave balance. The barrel definitely gave this some baking spices, vanilla, and slight earthiness. The finish is short to medium, not too bad. ”

“I feel like this repo greatly influenced by the barrel which I’m not opposed to depending on what I feel like drinking. On the nose I’m getting those classic whiskey notes, vanilla, caramel, some chocolate. The palate has some agave but I feel the oak steals the show. It’s has a sweet and peppery finish. ”

“The aroma is earthy with hints of minerals, and there’s a touch of agave, anise, black pepper, and minerals on the palate. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of anise, so that might affect my impression. The anise flavor is noticeable right when it hits my tongue. Overall, the flavors are subdued, with a light mouthfeel.”

Montagave Blanco Las Rocas
“On first sip. The profile is what I expected but I but I think the mineral flavor is a bit amplified. That could be from the concrete resting or just because I know how it’s rested. I do get that with many 1123 products. The cooked agave still shines through but I feel the wet pavement vibes are the side kick. I love the finish, which is so silky. It has a subtle floral tone on the finish which I love.”

Tequila Mi Casa 9yr XA Single Barrel
“Barrel 17A: The stand out difference to this barrel is the baking spices, cinnamon, clove-ish palate. Oak influence is obviously still there. I feel like the finish on this is longer than the 5A every though the abv is lower than the 5A”

Tequila Mi Casa 9yr XA Single Barrel
“I have quite a few SiB samples will update as I go. Barrel 5A: Nose is has a heavy oak influence and a little agave on it not too much but where this one is different or what stands out to me is the anise on the palate. Didn’t see that in what ppl got but it was really heavy. Now I’m interested in drinking them all tonight. ”

Tequila Mi Casa Blanco (2011)
“Interesting flavor, taste lactic and funky to me and another pungent flavor I can’t put my finger on but it’s definitely there each and every sip. I really feel like it sitting in that SS for so long made an impact but I don’t have anything to compare it to. I’m sure it’s for someone. ”

“Agave, buttery, creamy, and minerals. Gotta love it. ”
More info →“I had barrel 11 (Traditional) and 13 (Tropical) from Sip Tequila. The tasting notes I had for the two barrels are the opposite of what I thought it was going to be. The 11 was creamy, buttery, vanilla, baking spices, and toasted coconut. However,(comma) the traditional barrel gave more earthy, mineral, orange zest, and more agave. I favored the tropical pick for North Carolinas 2 barrels but we are still waiting on it. ”

“This is basically a candied apple to me. I taste green apple and caramel along the lines of the agave and the oak. I can say this is a unique XA and I like that. ”

“Getting this at 9 a pour for 2oz I’m mind blown. On the nose; agave, minerals, and mint. On the palate I get a lot of the same; minerals, citrus, minty, and agave all over. I need to find a bottle. It absolutely drinks under proof. My newbie buddies didn’t notice the proof after trying it.”

Chamucos Extra Añejo
“I feel like the SS is a bit more aromatic than this XA. Definitely more mellow and cleaner on the nose. The musty note I get with this brand is faint with some vanilla. On the palate … oaky, some agave, mellow, definitely can be a whiskey lovers gate way drug. This is very oak forward to me but in a good way.”

“All I got from this is agave and oak in a very elegant way… but it has been more drinking involved. The wine cask definitely plays a nice part on this spirit.”
