The team behind the Tequila Matchmaker have launched a “Verified Additive Free” program for tequila brands and distilleries. This is the first known independent, additive-free verification in the spirits world.
Tequila has come a long way from the salt, shot, and lime procedure of your college days. Tequila expert Jay Silverman sits down WSJ's Jeff Bush and teaches him how to appreciate the beverage.
Aroma: Sweet cooked agave and caramel lead, vanilla, black pepper, and oak. Subtle baking spice, butterscotch, and barrel notes. Palate: Smooth with roasted agave, caramel, and prominent vanilla. Black pepper, oak, and baking spice provide balance and mild heat; butterscotch and barrel spice with creamy sweetness. Finish: Solid finish with lingering black pepper, oak, and caramel. Fades to gentle spice, vanilla, and butterscotch. Overall, a solid bottle from 1414. 1414 has been hit or miss for me. Some bottles I love, and some are just okay. This is one of the good ones I like!
