NOM 1499 | For a highlands expression this one leads on the nose with citrus, lime and pepper, maybe some cut grass— which I’d expect more from a valles. That said as it warms the olfactory, honey butter settles in for a warm sweetness that invites the palate nicely. Sweet, cooked agave hits on the initial sip with some wet cement, celery, and amazingly, Asian apple, as the finish signs off with a warm lemon-square, dessert kind of feel. Very easy to sip, not overly complex, would stand up nicely to mixology! Cheers from Parker Colorado! Booze-bully.com

Nose: Cooked agave leads the way. There’s some minerality, a touch of citrus, green olive, and black pepper. Balanced and clean without being overdone. Palate & Mouthfeel: Mouthfeel is excellent, coats the mouth nicely without feeling heavy. Sweet agave up front, some orange, and a steady note of black pepper. Everything plays well together and nothing feels out of place. Finish: Sweet and peppery, with a light but long finish. Doesn’t disappear right away, but it’s not overpowering either. Final Thoughts: A solid pour that delivers above its price. Straightforward, well made, and easy to enjoy. Definitely one to keep around.

NOM 1499 | Decent blanco. Light nose of citrus, white pepper, cooked agave. Flavors of honey, lemon zest, sweet cooked agave with mild finish finish.

NOM 1499 | Nose: Hay, vanilla, and citrus with pepper from the start. Fruit starts to emerge with earth and olive. Very buttery, caramel and salty. Palate: Medium to light body. Good viscosity. Sweet floral agave at the start. Melds into sweet vanilla, earth, and pepper. Fruit notes of plum, berry, and red fruit come forth as well. Very nice mouth feel. Unique and very interesting blanco. Excited to try the other expressions from Mijenta

NOM 1499 | Bottle: Lote No. Mijenta/Silver100/006 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked agave, vanilla, flowers, gardenia, rose petals, lavender, orange blossom, citrus, lime, grapefruit, butter, honey, herbal, mint, cream soda, fruity, pear, cantaloupe/melon, cinnamon, and anise…a really great bouquet Palate: Cooked agave, vanilla, cinnamon, cream soda, honey, butterscotch, baking spice, caramel, flowers, gardenia, orange blossom, citrus, lemon, butter, minerality, wet cement, fruity, cantaloupe/melon, anise, and white pepper…very sweet and floral Finish: Cinnamon, flowers, cream soda, vanilla, and white pepper…a medium viscosity of medium duration Overall: If there was such a thing as a dessert blanco, this would be the flagship profile. It’s sweet, it’s complex, it’s floral…there’s a lot going on. In fact, I was rather surprised that such a profile would be possible without significant barrel aging. Though I wish I had more bottles of the 1499 version, I’m looking forward to comparing this against the new distillery offering.

NOM 1499 | Upon opening I smelled caramel deliciously potent. Inside the glass, the smell of agave is tremendous as well as caramel, citrus, pepperiness, and fresh water. The taste is agave, agave and more agave with an immediate dash of spicy pepper, sweet caramel, tanginess and freshness. This being my first bottle of Mijenta I am enamored by its capturing of agave, sweetness and freshness. The finish trails away in citrusy watery notes. It’s a blanco that I would and will indulge in again and again, and would encourage others to experience as well. 40$ at Costco made this buy a no-brainer.

NOM 1499 | Excellent Blanco all around. Not shy in the mouth or finish.

NOM 1412 | Olive nose opening up to floral notes with a rich mouthfeel and anis finish. Not as soft as the original version - I like it.

NOM 1499 | Vegetal on the nose, very little alcohol on the nose. Sweet, vegetal, cooked agave and light pepper. Clean finish, sweet, vegetal, finish.

NOM 1499 | On the nose, I get butter, vanilla and cooked agave. A medley of those immediately, followed by a touch of wet grass on the back end, almost like the smell of outside after a light rain. On the palate, I definitely get the agave and spicy white pepper. Nice, balanced sweetness. Definitely some minerality. The butter note comes through, but not as much as the nose would suggest. Medium body, oily and almost silky. A touch of anise coming up on the finish for me. Definitely a very interesting tequila, highly enjoyable and unique.

NOM 1499 | Lighter in aroma, you have to persist and push to get the agave and sandlewood scents. A little light and watery on the mouthful, not much viscosity. Flavor does poke through with green agave and floral and green pepper.

NOM 1499 | Tasted at LA Tequilafest - an outdoor event. Mijenta used small Dixie cups for tasting. The small sample was impressive, and stood out from the others I tasted. I’m looking forward to getting my own bottle and doing a better review soon.

NOM 1499 | This is a well made tequila with good cooked agave notes, pepper, and citrus ... I like the back story, sustainable, and community minded, taking care of their workers. Salud

NOM 1499 | Aroma : Grassy and flowery notes that remind me of Calle 23 Criollo. This is against a backdrop of sweet cooked agave and peppercorns. Taste : Agave, butter and meaty salami notes give this a level of funk that differs from the traditional cheesy, grassy kind you might find in a bottle of Cascahuín Tahona Blanco, or other tequilas that have rested a while after fermentation. The texture is full, creamy, and oily. Finish : Long, with a little more spice from black pepper and baking spices. I love bottles like this one that give you a unique flavor profile while still retaining the qualities of an old school traditionally made tequila. This is a treat.

NOM 1499 | floral aroma fills the nose as soon as it hits the glass. agave, citrus, cinnamon are very present as well. nice sweet agave upfront on the flavor with citrus - predominantly lime - following close. cinnamon, some yeast, bell pepper hit on a very long finish. at around $45, it's a solid buy

NOM 1499 | Nice presentation ! Roasted agave, lime zest, pepper, orange blossom, honey and tropical fruits on the nose. Butter, black pepper, tropical fruits, spices, agave on the palate. Finish mid-short, with sweet tones of honey, agave, and fruits.

NOM 1499 | Initial impression: The aroma is lacking for me, but it may be due to my cold and dry home. I'll have to reevaluate in the spring/summer. The flavor is interesting, quite soft, and there is a note that I haven't quite placed, but it is very pleasing. Finish is satisfactory. I was hesitant about this product due to the 3x distillation, but had heard good things and wanted to try for myself. The glass stopper is different. It will take some getting used to since it has a tight fitting rubber(?) gasket. I scraped the inside of the neck as I pulled the stopper out. Hopefully, I don't scratch or crack the glass, but that would be my fault, not the bottle design.

NOM 1499 | $59.99 in Michigan. Rested 10 minutes. Appearance- clear ice. Long thin legs. Nose- Agave, citrus, wet earth, white pepper Palate- Damn! Sweet agave, black pepper, lime, melon, clay, vanilla and butter but not fake cake batter. This is layered and complex! Finish- Spicy, rich, deep, and goes for days. surprised this has been distilled 3x. I love this!

NOM 1499 | Floral with heat but a nice treat from everything that is out there. Agree with the other ratings that it needs time to open.
