“I finally got to try this famous tequila thanks to the new shooters which gave me an affordable opportunity. As I was led to expect, it is heavily sweetened, lacking nose, flavor, and finish. I can see why a non Tequila fan would like it, it’s smooth and sweet. But to me it was awful. I washed it down with some Don Fulano Anejo and the difference was incredible. The Don Fulano was just as smooth but laden with flavors. Share good tequila with your friends, dissuade them from this sweetened fake stuff. ”

Don Fulano Añejo
“This is a delicious additive free Anejo. Not very strong on the nose to my senses, but great favor and finish. It’s a darker Anejo, smooth, with nice barrel notes. This has become my top regular sipping Tequila because it’s easier to find and more affordable than my other favorites. I have also used it to introduce friends to good tequila. Highly recommend. ”

“This immediately rocketed to the top of my list. Butterscotch and cinnamon on the nose, sweet roasted agave flavor mellowed with complex caramel barrel notes and a lingering finish. I introduced a friend and bourbon connoisseur to this and it immediately became his favorite drink, replacing his fine whiskeys. ”

“It grew on me once the bottle opened up. It’s not bad by any means, but not as much complexity as my favorite anejos. Still loads of good agave flavor. ”

El Tequileño Añejo Gran Reserva
“Very smooth, tasty tequila. Great barrel notes with a lingering agave finish. There is a slight funky note I can’t quite name that am not a fan of, and I prefer some tequilas which cost less so that brought my rating down a little. Still an excellent additive free choice. ”

Fortaleza Blanco
“Finally got to try some at a good tequila bar and what can I say, it’s amazing. Smooth, rich agave flavor with a touch of agave sweetness and citrus. If this was the first taste most people had of Tequila there would be a lot more Tequila lovers. ”

Fortaleza Añejo
“Finally got a chance to sample a Fortaleza Anejo at a local restaurant where the head bartender is a fellow tequila lover. Simply the best aged tequila I’ve tried, smooth, agave, vanilla, spice, lingering savory finish. I was not disappointed. ”

“Tasted at a restaurant bar because I wanted tequila and no restaurant has Fortaleza or El Tesoro. Pleasantly surprised really, a little bit of agave up front with oak, vanilla, and a kind of chocolate note. Smooth with a long finish. I don’t have the palate to judge if additives were heavily used, but I suspect so because of the sweet note that is more prominent than I would expect. Still, good enough I will be ok ordering this at bars and restaurants in the future since it is easier to find than my preferred juices. ”
