Dos Primos Tequila Blanco
“flavor is pleasant but kinda chaotic. way better than I thought it was going to be but not amazing. on the nose: raw agave, some cooked agave, grass, and citrus, mostly orange. on the palate: agave, black pepper out in front. bit of bitterness and ethanol but not unpleasant. long finish with heat but clean for the most part.”

“nose: light agave, lemongrass, green pepper. palate: agave, black pepper, strong minerality, lemon, grapefruit, ethanol, anise and butter. unbalanced. the ethanol overpowers. it's a good price for a hp but if I'm going to have a patron product, I'd pick a different one.”

Lost Lore Tequila Añejo
“interplay of oak and Agave is balanced but distinct. lots of both fruit forward, strong cherry notes. a bit of butterscotch, green pepper, ethanol and black pepper carry throughout. the finish completely loses me. musty and funky in a way I can't explain. glad I scratched it off my list but I wouldn't buy this.”
More info →“insanely raw and intense combination of flavors and scents. it's like someone took every note ever pulled from a tequila and a mezcal and shoved them into one bottle. very similar to caballito Cerrato chato. if you're new in your journey, save this for later. been at it a while? this one is worth sitting with if you want your palate challenged... in a good way.”
More info →“deep cooked agave and black pepper on the nose. also picked up a burst of orange/lemon citrus and decent minerality. on the palate: cooked agave out front, black pepper is a strong second and continues through the mid and finish. minerality is strong of limestone, but not briny. strong ethanol presence, a bit of anise, olive, and a bright orange and lemon burst round this out. I like this a lot but IMHO, their 40% abv blanco is a much better expression.”
More info →“this one is a mess. ethanol dominant on both the nose and palate. oak is spicy and present on the palate but the agave itself is washed out by bitterness. also, 75 bucks? hard pass. ”

“nose: agave, black pepper, orange, lime, ethanol, grass, and melon. palate: cooked agave, black pepper, slight brine, slight minerality. oily mouth feel that transcends the price point. finish is not very long, a slight bitterness from ethanol and the very end. fantastic for the price point. Def a top three under $30 tequila brand. salud!”

“dominant funk on the nose and palate. flavors of acetone and alcohol. some agave is here but not enough to compensate. some spice is present by way of cinnamon and black pepper but they are quite divorced from the balance. not enjoying this one very much.”

The black pepper shows up in the mid to finish and carry through the finish where the brine shows up and adds a bit of salinity. overall this a a great tequila for noobs. low heat, additive free, and a clean taste.
