Nice agave nose with oak, cinnamon, pepper and minerals. Between this and the WJ Anejo, I like the Anejo nose better. Taste, the repo is so nice in the mouth. Cooked agave, oak, cinnamon and pepper. A touch of vanilla and I can just taste the Widow Jane. Mouthfeel is fantastic and the finish is very clean with little alcohol. Super nice offering. I think a lot of people prefer the repo but I like the Anejo by a point. Can’t go wrong with either.

This stuff rocks. Agave, barrel spice, cinnamon, citrus, pepper, stone fruit, oak. Very whiskey influenced, and I can’t get enough of it!

I had this at a tasting event. An amazing reposado here. This has everything you could ask for. High proof, long finish, very balanced, and complex. Nose: cooked agave, cinnamon, mint, oak, barrel spice, minerals, pineapple. Palate: cooked agave, cinnamon, oak, black pepper, minerals, whiskey, barrel spices. Such a great sipper!

The first thing I noticed as soon as I poured into the glass was that this has barely any amber color from the barrel. If you are a fan of heavier repos, this may not be for you. The cooked agave aroma comes through, along with cinnamon, black pepper and barrel spice. There is also some citrus on second and third sniff. Flavor of cooked agave and black pepper are foremost. Then the cinnamon and a hint of oak come out. The finish is nice and long but without the heat I might expect at 45.5% alcohol. I got a great price so my value rating may be higher than others.

Aroma:Oak, faint smokiness, caramel, vanilla, cherry, light ethyl, agave, Taste: Vanilla, caramel, buttery, cooked agave, berry, wine-esque, thin mouth feel, almost no pepperiness, cream soda Finish: Light smoke on finish, fresh, light oak, light caramel. Extremely easy repo to drink. Insight:Dangerously discreet and delicious.

The oasis a bit muted for me, I get mostly alcohol and some brown butter. On the body I get cooked agave, lots of cinnamon due to the heat, and oak. I do appreciate the longer finish due to the higher ABV but overall I would personally prefer the regular reposados. Ocho likes to age their offerings to the bare minimum and in this case it’s a bit hot for my preference. Absolutely adore Ocho but this one was a bit of a let down for me.

This Reposada from Tequila Ocho, aged in Widow Jane barrels is such a great mash-up, yielding super smooth and oddly sweet bourbon barrel flavors while still presenting an agave clean finish with subtle earthiness and fruity caramel. Widow Jane is not every bourbon guys choice….it’s too sweet for many of them, but the Widow’s barrels give complexity to an already fantastic daily drinker that fights above its budget class. This may not be the best expression to try to convert bourbon guys because those signature Widow Jane barrel tastes don’t fit the majorities palates…but if you like sweeter tequila and sweeter bourbon, this could be a great crossover episode that helps you get to know the characters on both sides of the story.

The nose is very clean and slightly sweet with some light floral and fruity notes. Some warm barrels spices are present along with wet minerals, lemongrass, and cooked agave with just a hint of red hots (candy). - The barrel spices and natural sweetness hit up front. The barrels spices are warm and spicy. Think cinnamon and chipotle peppers. There’s some buttery cooked agave, caramel, a hint of anise, and some dry tannins from the barrel that give it a slightly dry finish. - The higher proof helps the finish to linger. It’s sweet and spicy. - Overall this is a fun and enjoyable Reposado. The barrel influence is just right. It’s present but not overwhelming. It keeps with the Camarena style of aging where the agave stays front and center. The higher proof helps to keep the flavors brighter. It’s a great cold weather light Reposado that still packs a punch. Salud!

Maybe I’ll update with notes, but this is a damned good tequila! Those agave notes hit your nose as soon as you pour setting up a great tequila sipping experience.

After having watched Carlos Camarena's master class video comparing blanco tequila as the art and barrel aging as the frame. This is a perfect representation of the "frame" highlighting the perfect elements of the painting. Agave and mint are the highlights, but vanilla, cinnamon, and almond croissant hold up this fantastic sipper. A bit overpriced, losing points on value (after all, it's aged in cast aside bourbon barrels that are only allowed to be used one time). This is tequila for the experienced drinker, as the agave and black pepper pack a punch. Awesome stuff by a master of his craft.

Lot one- This is amazing!! That's all I could say. This has everything I want, in a light Repo... but complex at the same time. Upgraded since my review.

Lot RLA-034WJ 30/08/2022 Bottle No. 382 45.5% ABV Damn, this is outstanding. Initial nasal impact is warming with a slight prickle. Aroma keeps building as it opens up, leading with sweet cooked agave, crisp fall apple, limestone, baking spice, cinnamon, apricot, caramelized pineapple and rounded out with whiskey and fennel. Generous heat and a buttery mouthfeel. The sweet cooked agave still shines, as with all Carlos Camarena aged expressions. Add to that a healthy dose of baking spice, light oak, brine, pecans and orange with black pepper evenly sprinkled throughout. The long finish is amazing, highlighting the pepper, apricot and whiskey barrel notes while still staying very creamy. Overall impression is that the agave is still the star of the show. This reposado is clean, sharp and harmoniously balanced. An exceptional tequila. I bought this for $54, so my value rating was higher than most, but even at 75-100 bucks, this is a top reposado and should be in your glass. Very glad this particular bottle is my 300th rating on TMM.

Aroma of out of the horno cooked agave, brown sugar, leather, light spices. Flavor is sweet up front with brown sugar dissolving into agave, light oak, cinnamon, white pepper. Finish is a tad hot and comes as a suprise after such sweetness but aligns well. Very balanced, not over oaked, bourbon notes come out the more it opens both in the aroma and the flavor. Really nice and well done.

Agave sweetness comes through with some citrus on the front, and remains throughout. Interesting profile unlike any previous Ocho releases.

A nice amount of barrel influence but the agave is still there. Can smell the minerality and taste the whiskey influence. Well done.

Loads of agave up front, a little oak, brine, vanilla, pepper, some alcohol (whiskey like), anise, maybe a light tart cherry, Very nice repo. The more you drink the more flavorful it gets.

Subtle agave nose. Lots of agave on palate. Minimal barrel notes, the agave shines here. Subtle finish with minimal heat. It’s an easy sipper for sure. Price hurts the overall score. It’s even better once it opens. Such an easy sipper and the finish goes on for days. Top 5 easy for me. It’s a must try.

500th tasting! Let it breathe for 15 minutes, the agave aroma pushes through. Cinnamon flavor with a peppery finish. Interesting profile, more barreling than the traditional Ocho reposado (newer barrels?), the higher proof keeps the agave present throughout the tasting!

What a great way to hit my 300th rating! It unfolded very nicely to produce complex aromas and spicy flavors. This repo is a treat!

Very tannic compared to the usual Ocho Reposado which I attribute to the new barrels used once for Widow Jane Bourbon. It grew on me as I sipped more. Edit: This is such a great Reposado, plus one for both aroma and finish on 11/06/2023.

The nose is very similar to other Ocho offerings. Agave upfront, cinnamon light fresh fruit and a hint of oak. Taste is cooked agave, cinnamon, sweetness is coming through similar to a fire ball. Hint of the barrel oak. Finish is outstanding, vegetal, cooked agave and a light lingering pepper.

Agave is the star here along with the wonderful aromas and flavors introduced by the barrels. This is a high proof blanco lovers ideal Reposado. Just the right amount of spicy, peppery, fruity aromas complimenting the agave. Super complex, buttery rich, pepper and cinnamon that lingers into a wonderful finish. I have a couple of favorite Reposados, but this Widow Jane is the best I’ve had (so far).

Wow!! Such a delicious complex Reposado. It’s got that Ocho aroma 100%, ton of agave on the nose, so many baking spices, cinnamon, black pepper, I get a little bit of minerality with it. Nice long black pepper finish. It did not get shown up by the barrel at all. I’d say a top 3 Reposado for me.
