“The aroma was cooked agave, minerals, earth, citrus and herbal. The flavor was a salt bomb which made me wonder if the bar sprinkled salt in the glass. Followed by cooked agave, black pepper, minerals, citrus and herbal. Medium finish.”

“This is the only tequila on the menu I haven't tried. Here goes... Aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, oak, cake batter and an alcohol wipe smell. Flavor of vanilla, cinnamon, cake batter, oak. No agave or black pepper at all. Finish was there and gone in an instant. Who does this appeal to???”

“2025 La Mesa barrel proof. Light amber in the glass, which is common with Ocho. Aroma of cooked agave, oak, alcohol, citrus, minerals and a hint of vanilla. Flavor of black pepper, cooked agave, alcohol, oak, citrus, minerals and vanilla. A long finish with the higher proof of 50.5%. Purchased in Mexico so better price/value.”

“Tasted at a local bar. I have not seen this brand before but have rated other brands from the distillery. Aroma of cooked agave, orange, citrus and brine. Flavor of cooked agave, black pepper, citrus and brine. The flavor was very muted, almost watered down. Made me wonder if the bar played around with it. Finish was quite short.”

“In the glass, a soft amber glows, medium and warm as evening slows. Cooked agave rises first in air, then caramel, oak and citrus flair. On the tongue, black pepper speaks, with honey, fruit and oak that lingers and peaks. A pleasant finish, smooth and long, a gentle close to a spirited song. This añejo is a lovely tribute to the namesake Don Julio Gonzalez. Too bad it's only available in Mexico.”

“I have a bottle of the new tahona Blanco so I wasn't sure what to expect. Aroma of cooked agave, alcohol (no surprise at 54% abv) citrus, minerals and anise. Flavor - the alcohol hit was unexpected, in a good way, cooked agave, black pepper, cinnamon and minerals. Finish is long and mellows out ”
