“Aroma: agave is present but it's not peppery at all. There's a vinegary smell along with some green herbs. Like vinaigrette dressing. After a few more minutes of letting it open up I can pick up some barrel influence and baking spice. I detect some white pepper too. The sharp crispness from the Blanco is still very present and shares the spotlight with the barrel influence. After letting it open up for 15 minutes the nose is very pleasant. It makes me think if tequila, white wine and champagne were to be mixed together. Taste: Some initial heat on the tongue. Not very sweet. More herbal and very subtle. Nothing is punching my taste buds. It's okay and the finish has some bitterness. This would be a lot better at higher proof but at 40% it's not doing much for me. Those nose was keeping me interested but the flavor is kind of a letdown. After reviewing 8 or so tequilas on here this is the first one that I can't honestly say I'd recommend. I hate that too because I really wanted to like this one. ”

“Aroma: Delightful agave and green peppers with pepper spice and salty minerality. A hint of celery. An amazing Blanco nose. Taste: Sweet on the tongue. Lots of agave and pepper. Earthy, spicy, and salty/briny. Some mint on the finish with a small bit of lingering heat. I understand why this is one of the most recommended brands. I'm not disappointed at all. ”

“NOM 1499 Aroma: buttery is the main note. Reminds me of unaged sugar cane rum. I can barely detect the agave and it's not spicy or peppery at all. Apricot and tropical fruity. A small hint of banana and sweet herbs. Taste: super easy drinking. No heat or burn. Sweet with some licorice. This is not complex at all. Not a whole lot more going on so far. ”

“Aroma: immediately smell celery and bell pepper sprinkled with a little white and black pepper. It's crisp and bright. After it opens up it settles down a little and the vegetal celery note subdues. There is some alcohol present. Taste: sweet, green and earthy. I caught a quick whiff of smoke in the middle. On second sip I can taste some caramel nuttiness but it's still mostly green and sweet. I enjoy this more than 1146 which is surprising to me. ”

“Aroma: agave and white pepper, zesty and vegetal, earthy. Very pleasant on the nose. There's something very alluring in the back end that keeps me sniffing over and over. Almost like a tart green apple note. I'm really digging the nose. Flavor: a mouth punch of sweet agave quickly followed by delicate fruits and minerality. the finish is quite warm which helps the subtlety up front. This tastes like an upscale complex tequila. I like it a lot. ”

“aroma is sour, briny and fruity with a hint of feta cheese or yogurt. There's also a subtle sweet smokey agave spice behind all that. Palate is mostly just sugary sweet with buttery caramel butterscotch. It's either not that complex or my novice palate isn't refined enough yet to detect everything going on with it. The agave note shows itself in the finish. ”
